Thank you! This bug has been affecting me for awhile so I’m glad to see a fix coming. I have also filed a Roblox Support ticket to change the name of my group.

Any updates on this bug fix? Customer Support refused to allow my group name change to go through (Support Ticket 65512745) so I’m really at a standstill with getting my group name changed, despite meeting all the requirements…

Appreciate the link to my post! I submitted a ticket and received no help from the potential automated message that told me to follow the instructions in terms of how to change the group name. I am glad that you went out of your way with this in depth post - hope this gets resolved soon as my group is still facing the same issue.

I was wondering if there were any updates on this bug fix? I’ve been back and forth with support (#67604074) for over a month now regarding this, and have been getting the same run-around of “We will update you when we find out more about your issue”. My group is also over a decade old, and I have owned the group for over 5 years now. Thank you to OP for doing a deep-dive into the issue, as I now have a better idea of what probably caused it! Hopefully there will be an update soon.

@fulljonathan @parakeet45 Have either of you tried transferring your group to an alt and back? Group Name Changes require 90 days of waiting after a group transfer, but doing this might be a workaround to this bug. It might also not be though, I haven’t tried it.
Can either of you let me know if you’ve tried it and if it has worked? It’s been about 90 days since I encountered this bug. I really didn’t expect the bug fix to take this long, and it just occurred to me that maybe I could’ve done that in the first place, and that my group name for my studio would have been changed by now…

@Telosmos We are sorry to hear that you weren’t able to get this resolved via a support ticket.
On the engineering side, we have a fix in testing phase that will allow you to change the group name once rolled out.
I will keep you posted, but this should be solved within the next two weeks.

I was banking on the fix happening so I wouldn’t have to waste 6 months trying to transfer ownership between accounts, although I did think about this solution since it’d then show ownership changes on the audit. I’m glad that this aims to be solved within the next few days though!

The fix is now on production. Your owned Group mentioned above should now allow you to change the Group name.

Thank you for the update. I just tried to change my group name on the website, yet I still get the same error.
I then tried it through the API, and I still get error code 44.
Perhaps the fix is not enabled yet, or there’s some kind of wait before it’s in production? Looking forward to your thoughts on it.

I just tried again and the fix has now worked for my group. My group’s name is now changed. Thank you to you and your team so much for fixing this bug!!

I did not want to open a new topic about this one as it’s too similar to my own issue.
I’m having this same error, but I did actually change ownership of the group with someone who bought the group and then transferred the ownership to my alt account (@TNS_diegoss), but it never showed up in the logs:
I’ve waited 90 days and have all requirements, but it shows the same thing every time I try changing the name:

edit 2; I’ve sent multiple support tickets to roblox about this issue and kept getting the response to look at the requirements to change the group name and had 0 actual help given.

I’m also experiencing an issue on my group, Recently, My group got content deleted for a warning, Roblox Appeal says I can change it, However I forgot I transfer my group from my alt to my account. May I ask how long is the cooldown or the duration before i can change it again.
The cooldown is 90 days after transfer of Ownership.
oh well last time i switched the owner is 69 days (september 1), i guess ill wait

We’ve made an additional update that fixes a small number of Groups that experienced a Group Audit Log discrepancy that prevented their name from being changed. This was completed today and is live.
