I am experiencing an issue where I cannot grant Edit permissions to specific friends in Team Create. This happens across all my personal Team Creates, including newly created ones.
When I attempt to invite a friend by entering their username, I receive an error stating they are user must be a friend to edit, even though they are.
When trying to invite a group, the option to grant Edit permissions does not appear at all.
Strangely, this issue only affects some friends, while others can be invited without any problems.
Reproduction Steps:
Open Team Create in any of my personal places.
Click the Invite button in the top-right.
Enter a friend’s username or select a group.
Observe that:
Some friends cannot be granted Edit permissions (marked as “not a friend”).
Groups do not have the Edit option available.
Expected Behaviour:
I should be able to invite any friend and grant them Edit permissions.
Actual Behaviour:
Some friends are incorrectly marked as “not a friend” when attempting to grant Edit permissions.
Groups do not show the option to assign Edit permissions.
Additional Notes:
Other users I asked do not experience this issue.
I have checked multiple friends and found that about 90% can be invited successfully, while 10% cannot.
The issue persists across all my personal Team Create places, even new ones.
The cause is how long you have been friends with this user. I seem to encounter this issue pretty consistently when trying to invite someone that I have been friends with for a few years now.
All the users below I believe I have been friends with since roughly before December 2023.
As you can see, I am unable to set edit permissions for any of them. But, for users who I recently added, the edit option appears and it shows “friend” when searching:
I’m also experiencing this problem! I think the root cause of this is that Roblox’s friend limit update didn’t update how far the algorithm searches for friends, and that it is still stuck at 200.
Edit: The problem seems to have been fixed when I cleared my friends list until it was <= 200.
I currently have this problem. Me and my friend are trying to make a game just for fun, but we both can’t add each other to a game. I also noticed, for games he already has access to, pressing the button at the top right to change permissions doesn’t do anything. The first time, it shows the manage permissions frame for a split second and then closes, and the next times it just does nothing.
