Unboxing Eggs, Boxes, etc; mechanisms

In our diverse range of simulator games and luck-based experiences, we’ve encountered two distinct opening systems for acquiring boxes, eggs, and more. The first involves the classic sliding motion, as illustrated in Figure 1. Meanwhile, the second method entails vigorously shaking an object until it dramatically explodes, revealing the contents, as depicted in Figure 2.

The evolution of the unboxing method commenced in 2018, initially with the scrolling approach. Over time, a notable shift occurred, with an increasing number of games embracing the dynamic and exhilarating shaking and exploding method as their preferred choice.

I’m curious if there’s a potential emergence of a third method, or if there’s a prevailing preference between the existing two.

Purposes of these methods

  • Method 1:
This approach appears to be predominantly employed for items destined for your inventory—objects that aren’t typically showcased in a 3D environment.
  • Method 2:
This particular method is widely employed in simulators, serving as a unique “pet adoption” experience. It involves a dynamic shaking and exploding process that unveils the partner you’ll accompany on your captivating simulator journey.

Additionally, I’d like to mention that I’ve adeptly scripted both instances in my games, and it’s worth noting that method 2 is notably simpler in design, especially considering your proficiency in animation UI skills.
