Unified Smart Mesh Importer has a new, unknown, error with multiple meshes with PBR materials

Hello there,

we used to work pretty smoothly with the Unified Smart Mesh Importer and PBR materials, but in the last week we are encountering the following issue.

We need to import the following FBX with related PBR materials, which is a very simple geometry accounting for 5k triangles in total, splitted into single meshes of 150 triangles each (total 48 meshes).

Drawers_Test_03.fbm.zip (330.8 KB)

Whenever we try to import the model as it is, anchoring the parts and getting the scene position, we keep getting this uknown error:

If we reduce the number of the meshes to be imported in the geometry, the import works smoothly:

Importing the entire geometry without materials works great.

We used to work with imports accounting for more than 100 meshes each with more than 100k triangles in total in the last weeks. Since we haven’t seen any updates and there no specific guidelines regarding the limits of import, we are wondering if someone can help us in addressing this issue.

The models were made in Maya using Phong materials.

Thank you for your help

We are facing the same issue.

Previously, like the last month, we were easily importing (i.e.) 40 meshes with 3k tris each with their respective location info.

We tried to re-install Studio and did everything that came up to our mind with no success.

Seems like something has changed with Roblox. Hope they will fix it because it is making us waste loads of time

Oof, yeah this looks like a bad bug, sorry to hear about the issue :frowning: . I’ll make a ticket for us to track this internally and we’ll get to it ASAP!
To be transparent, our hands on the import team are a bit full right now with ongoing projects, but we set aside time to burn down these bugs at regular intervals, so we’ll look at this by then at the very least. Thanks for your patience and for reporting this!
