Union shading has been messed up in the latest update (NOW FIXED)

So in the latest update in roblox (7/1/2023),

Recently found a bug with unions where the union that’s unioned by negate messes up the shading which it doesnt look the part right, even with the UsePartColor it doesnt work.

It only applies to unions that have been separated recently this update, the old unions dont have any shading issues.

Any solutions to this or do I have to wait for another week to update roblox?

this issue has been around for years. i think it can be solved by doing the unions while the lighting is set to Compatibility

i tried that but its still showing

make sure you union the part while Compatibility is active. you can go back to normal lighting, but the parts have to be unioned while the lighting is set to Compatibility. if it doesnt work im not sure why but this method has been working for me

tried that, it still doesnt work. can you try to union stuff with separations in this latest update of roblox?

it has something to do with it

one of my friends tried to unify the same old union and this happens
same color too

I’ve been encountering the same issue, you can use legacy CSG but its outdated so it glitches out and throws out errors when you try to union something complicated.

To be fair, union shading has always been messed up

Try changing the CSG part sizes around until it’s not

found a temporary fix for the shading issue

but it requires a plugin
(stravant’s reflect plugin)

  1. install

  2. select any face

  3. boom

Found another fix for this glitch.

Set your smoothing angle to 1

Yea, this started pretty recently and it’s gotten pretty annoying.

Even with the smoothing angle hack it produces strange artifacts.

I’ve also been encountering this issue and it’s honestly really annoying as I’m trying to make a character rig using a union head piece and it just looks like a wonky mess. I tried the smoothing angle method as mentioned in this post and it still looked the same.

Unions are incredibly unoptimized especially when it comes to terms of Blender VS Roblox’s Unioning.

It is incredibly confusing how Unions were a part of this mess out of a sudden which also brings me the question on how it was affected.

Generally I believe Roblox will eventually in a year just notice this bug and next year after just fix it by doing some sort of alternative update to something else that affects it anonymously again.

I’ve seen too many problems caused by Roblox whenever they Update, especially that entire Audio situation.

This still happens. No matter what I do with the SmoothingAngle, it just doesn’t fix it.
