idk if this is the right place for this, but what is the difference between unions and welding and how do you determine which one to use for different situations?

Unions are parts molded together to create one part. A weld just joins parts together

Welding can be useful for models, which contain multiple different parts and components that you want connected together. However, unions can be more useful for parts, that you want grouped together in one place as a part; (without them being in a model or welded together).

A Union will end up looking like one part.
A Weld will still look like two or more parts but just touching/together.
Welding can allow two parts that arent touching to stilll be connected… with a union they will mold together, they wont look separate.
A weld can have a constraint, a union cannot.
You can weld a mesh to a basepart, you cannot union those two.
