What do you guys think?
Very cool, like vrchat. Do you have to go into first person to use it though?
Hello EpicJab, that’s pretty original. Personally, I can see this getting annoying when I have to use my inventory very often or if I need to be quick. The animation can stay, but consider making the cursor unlock and the camera freeze, so you’ve got a Pip-Boy-style thing.

It seems quite cool, however, it also seems like it would be annoying to use.
This does remind me of the inventory system in Astroneer, you basically got a sort of packpack with slots but sci-fi with no cover. When you open the backpack, the backpack moves in front of the camera, becoming similar to a UI + the 3D. When the backpack is “closed” you can still see the stuff inside it
how was this made because its very cool!
Thanks! Great ideas! I will def add 3rd person support.
UPDATE:
I added 3rd person support by tweening their camera into the players head, and then tweening out again after finishing in the interface. I also added sounds and GUI animations. (Sorry, sound wasnt recorded in this video.) I also decided to keep the hotbar in the HUD, because as some people mentioned, it would be annoying to have to open the whole thing up every time you want to switch tools. The cursor was also unlocked and the camera frozen @Nik_77510. Thanks for your suggestions and improvements! Feel free to tell me how to improve this iteration as well!
I just used a surface GUI adorned to a screen part on the players hand. I played an animation, did a little tweening, and thats what I got!
Looks very interesting. Great job, I’m sure people will appreciate it. The only thing I could add is speeding it up a bit to make it more snappy, but you should see how this works out in-game.

This inventory system looks good! Nice job on it!
thanks! i might make something like this in the future
