:united_nations: Basic Information

Welcome to the United Nations founded by JxstMurphy! The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization that aims to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, achieve international cooperation, and be a center for harmonizing the actions of nations. This can be easier said than done on Roblox, which is why the United Nations is comprised of 6 principal organs:

  • General Assembly - The General Assembly (UNGA) serves as the main deliberative, policy-making, and representative organ of the UN. Its powers, composition, functions, and procedures are set out in Chapter IV of the United Nations Charter.
  • Security Council - The Security Council (UNSC) is charged with ensuring international peace and security, recommending the admission of new UN members to the General Assembly, and approving any changes to the UN Charter.

THE FOLLWOING COUNCILS HAVE NOT BEEN FORMED

  • Economic and Social Council - The Economic and Social Council (ECSOC) is responsible for coordinating the economic and social fields of the organization.
  • Trusteeship Council - The Trusteeship Council (UNTC) was established to help ensure that trust territories were administered in the best interests of their inhabitants and of international peace and security.
  • International Court of Justice - The International Court of Justice (ICJ) settles disputes between states and gives advisory opinions on international legal issues referred to it by the UN. Its opinions and rulings serve as sources of international law.
  • Secretariat - The UN Secretariat is essentially the executive arm of the United Nations and holds the Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General and the Under Secretary-Generals.
