Problem?
My family found it difficult to sign up for accounts due to past usernames being locked, I think for newer players as Roblox has been growing it has been difficult to find new usernames and some users I’ve seen been taking these usernames and hoarding them. I think it’s unfair to new players and other people who could’ve wanted one of these but were unable to have them.
Solution?
Users would be given three attempts to switch in and out of a past username as their current username. If they decide not to use it after three tries, they would no longer be able to reuse it. After one month, any unused previous username would become available to the public.
If Roblox was able to fix this then it would improve more locally available usernames, this platform has been online for so long that I think it’s becoming too hard to find new usernames without spamming a bunch of keys.
I mean, it is a good idea buuut usernames on roblox work like digital real estate, once taken, they dont cycle back quickly because people might still be recognized under those names…
Maybe a fair compromise could be a cooldown or recycling system for inactive accounts (eg. Admin, coolkid, ext..) instead of trying to limit how many times someone can change their name. that way, new players could actually get decent usernames (and not cool_kid63827) without punishing people who like customizing theirs
Personally, I think you should be able to request the opening of a username, with certain restrictions of course. Such as the account not having been active for the past 1-2 years, or not having over 500 visits on games total. I’d love if people could make usernames still which wouldn’t reveal some sort of personal information to be unique, assuming NameSnipes didn’t steal that also.
I love that idea, Alot of usernames I see are usually just THERE just to be THERE because they want to collect. I’m mostly talking about usernames that’s been changed.
Popular example, Guest666. It was a popular username but then someone snatched it and now there is no account or anything. It’s just taken and gone.
I feel like then the personal solution (That I can think of) is just showing them as a second result as “Previously known as (Username)”,
I don’t really care what kind of implementation gets added but as time goes on New Players will resort to spam as names just to play.
I don’t like the idea of unlocking previous usernames as that leads to impersonation and ethical issues. I for example, have been thinking about dropping the digits from my username, but suggestions like this stop me from doing so, as I feel that my online identity would essentially be stolen.
Yeah I reread this sometimes and I don’t think I wrote it out best, I hope someone could maybe do it better justice.
Thank you for your feedback, It feels though that names are slowly running out and people will resort to weird spamming.
