Unusually high ping in my games

  1. What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!

I want to achieve not having a high ping in any game that I create despite it not having a single thing added to it. And no, I don’t have bad internet. I’ve tested this with another user as well.

  1. What is the issue? Include screenshots / videos if possible!

The issue is that my games seem to have a high ping no matter what is in the game. I noticed that a game I am currently working on always has high ping, over 100, for me and a friend @Scriptos. I first thought it was due to my scripting, but after disabling all scripts, nothing changed.

I created a game with nothing but a tiny baseplate and a spawn. Guess what? Ridiculously high ping.

What’s even worse is that other games are just fine. Scripto’s games don’t have this problem. Does Roblox have something against me?

  1. What solutions have you tried so far? Did you look for solutions on the Developer Hub?

As mentioned before, I’ve tried disabling all scripts. Does not help.

No, Roblox doesn’t have anything against you. Do you have a strong and reliable internet connection?

Would like to mention that I recognize that 113 ping isn’t really considered high at all on Roblox, but it’s very odd when comparing to one of my games (which has a ton of scripts running and a very large map). I get 70 ping there, but at literally every single one of @Voidage’s places the ping is always stuck at 100+ and is a solid orange bar.

Thanks, I was beginning to wonder if there was some Roblox employee out there who wanted to mess with me. /s

I didn’t mean that.

Yes, my internet is stable and fast. I don’t have problems elsewhere.

I figure he made this topic since his ping was usually not that high.

What plugins do you own and what things do you have inside the place.

As you can see in the screenshot, there is a baseplate and a spawn. No added scripts from plugins. In my actual game, the only scripts that exist are my own, and searching through them for anything malicious reveals nothing.

Well I asked what you had in the game > not just in the workspace > whats in lighting, rep storage , all of that. Every script even if its disabled still takes up memory in storage. What kind of pc do you have > how many applications are you running > maybe you have a bad studio download and need to reinstall. Theres lots of components you can’t just look at whats in front of you and decide theres some un-natural force at work. Look at everything and try to form a conclusion of the cause.

It wouldn’t be his pc, applications, or studio download since I’m experiencing the same problem at his places as well. Already had him use the Find All feature (Ctrl+Shift+F) to search for getfenv in order to rule out any malicious code or backdoors inserted by a rogue plugin.

I’ll say it one more time. The only scripts in my ENTIRE game are my own. They contain nothing malicious. My PC has great specs. i79700k, 64gb ram. It’s not my pc. I did a speed test and got a ping of 17ms, download 325mb.

It’s not my computer and it’s not my internet. It isn’t any of my plugins, they’re all popularly used and trusted plugins.

Does he have any beta options enabled > did he go into settings in studio and enable something ?

I’ve disabled all beta features in both games and the results are a mixed bag. In the game I am actively developing, it’s definitely lower, it no longer goes above 150. However, Scriptos gets stuck with either a high or low ping of around 50 upon a new server. I always have a ping of 110-130. What’s strange is that the game with nothing but a baseplate and spawn is still getting me around 150 ping. Still need Scriptos to test this place as well.
