Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

This is a terrible idea. All you guys do is give updates no asked for. You need to bring back something like tix and make that the uploading fee. Robux is already hard to make for smaller creator such as myself.

This is not a terrible idea, I disagree with you. This update is heavily useful to me and others. Just because robux is hard to “earn” doesn’t mean this update is a terrible idea.

When I used to have premium, I was making a couple of shirts, and the neck hole was off-centered, so I had to make a new one, and it has so much clutter, it’s crazy. If roblox are implementing fees for shirts and pants, I think you should be able to view it/ try it before you pay to upload it.

Look at how horrible it turned out:

and there is more over 15.

A couple of questions.

How expensive will the uploads be?

Does this include T-Shirts?

Does the price vary on a per asset basis like audio uploads?

Will we be refunded if the asset gets rejected?

As a small designer, this update actually a bit saddening for me.I barely have people buying my clothes in the range of 1-2 months, and you expect us to pay the fee? And it cost 100 robux. I mean, even I never managed to get 100 robux from group payouts and don’t forget about the only 70% earnings from sales. Please Roblox, you can do better.

We work too hard to have to PAY robux to earn it. If that’s the case they need to apply the same rule with scriptures, builders, etc. why is it us clothing designers always the worst treatment?

Why are you targeting builders and scripters? Scripters and builders do the hardest work than clothing designers.

A paywall would only stop spammers for the time being; it’s gonna do more harm than good for smaller developers or the usual player who can’t afford to pay as much.

The current system is perfectly fine as it is, sure you need to have premium and pay real money to upload, but that proposal will only make it costlier on all aspects.

You don’t know what we do. You’re literally someone looking from the outside in. As someone who has scripted and built games before designing requires an equal amount of even more creativity than both of those categories.

I have to disagree with this one. Neither of them are easy to do, no matter if it’s scripting or clothing. Clothing might SEEM easy to make, but it’s harder than it looks.

I did try making clothing my self, it isn’t that hard as it seems. I get it, it may be hard sometimes but it’s not always. Scripting on the other hard is much more harder, why? Because you spend hours debugging and making sure it works and scripting is literally the main part of the game. Without it, no games are brought to life. For building, I would give it the same difficulty as designing clothing.

Making quality shirts/ pants IS hard, it’s not as simple as 1, 2, 3. Also, realistically you shouldn’t compare building and clothing as they are vastly different. Neither of them are easy.

NICE, this will definitely stops the bots from uploading shirts at an inhuman speed!

Although I understand what this update is for, I don’t 100% agree with it.

I am not a clothing designer, but I have a small group that sometimes gets sales from current clothes

Firstly, the fee for making clothes is great for non-premium users because now they have the option to upload, which they didn’t have before. But you’re removing a premium benefit.

For instance, with the basic Premium (5$\Month), which is like buying 400 :robux:, you can make an unlimited amount of shirts\pants a month. But now, if you have the fee (Which I assume is 100 :robux:), you can make about 4 shirts\pants a month, that’s a slight downgrade for premium users, especially for the ones who bought it to make clothes.

Secondly, bots are bots, they make Robux from stolen clothes AFAIK. For instance, when I buy clothes from the Avatar Shop, I am 90% going to buy a botted version, since the original cannot be found, so bots do make Robux, so now, bots don’t need premium anymore, and some can still afford copying (without the CAPTCHA), and there are still so many botted versions that still make Robux, you can’t distinguish between 50 copied versions, to 100, you are most likely to not look at 50 copied versions anyway.

In addition, Some groups are not large groups, they don’t even make 100 :robux: a month, so that’s a huge limit, they now have to rely on old clothing if they have any.

To sum up, this is an improvement, but I think that damages some premium users, I think they should still be able to upload for free\ have a lowered fee and a basic CAPTCHA.

TL;DR, some people buy premium to make clothes for free, and now they are limited, and many bots can still afford to copy, this is both an upgrade and a downgrade, but I think you should still let premium users upload for free, or lower their fee.

I get it. You want to discourage botting and clothing stealing. But this isn’t the way to do it. The majority of the community already dislikes the Robux taxes that are on everything making it extremely hard to make money, and now you put more paywalls on things? It’s ridiculous. If you really want to prevent clothing re-uploading and botting, you need to invest more into finding ways to prevent people from botting and clothing re-uploading, not rolling out a temporary annoyance that just harms the community more than helping it.

Just as @FxllenCode pointed out, there are many more ways that you can fix this problem without asking for more money. Content Deleted groups still appearing in stores, major botting problems that have been going on for years, duplicated clothing issues, etc.

Does every single piece of clothing on the catalog already uploaded apply under this paywall? I don’t think so. This isn’t a solution. Developers don’t need premium anymore to upload clothing, but neither do botters or thieves. Now, you’re going to see a lot more people uploading clothing for a cheap price - they’re the ones making all the money, and now real clothing designers are just going to be making less of it because of how easy you’re making it to steal clothing.

Find a real solution. Scan every clothing piece for duplicated parts, use a working captcha system like ReCaptcha, invest staff into large-scale moderation, or some other clever thing you guys can probably think of - just not this.

I have absolutely no support for this. You are basically taking away Premium privileges. This is not the right way to go. I definitely agree with @AlreadyPro. Rethink your decisions. You are 1) Ruining premium benefits and 2) Destroying the Clothing Designer community. You might as well remove the group on here with this update.

I just cancelled my premium renewal because these new updates are ruining the purpose of me getting premium.

Building is only hard when you try to push the limits of Roblox. Clothing cannot be compared to building, as it depends on your artstyle and your choice of 2D art programs. I can confirm that they are nothing similar.

You thinking that as a scripter are on a higher class than other people is helping no one. We’re a community, not a hierarchy.

This just created a downfall in my interest. I’m very dissatisfied and disappointed. Well done.
