Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

Very saddened to see that even after all posts and disagreements to this thread and the post before, Roblox still continues to roll out this update.

This update does more harm than good. While it does mostly stop people from botting shirts/pants on the catalog, this severely impacts small clothing designers and makes them unable to make any profit off of this.

I’ve been working with @astroxics recently and we are in a tough situation here. I originally wasn’t going to reply to this post due to the large amount of similar opinions to mine, but this is definitely not a good update.

See a more in-depth precision here.

There’s many alternatives to charging a 50 R$ fee. You could refund the 50 R$ fee upon x amount of purchases. Removing the premium roadblock and adding a 50 R$ to all designers doesn’t really seem like much of an improvement. I’ve been reading a lot of responses to this thread, and some have even decided to quit because of this update. Adding this 50 R$ fee will mean that designers will need to make their 50 R$ back from the item, potentially increasing catalog prices. It sucks that some newbies are going to go on YouTube, learn how to design clothes, and come back to upload their awesome creations only to find out they can’t afford it.

Yes, I agree. I’m very saddened by seeing how ROBLOX has decided to respond to this botting issue. They could fix it in many ways, but they decided to choose the way that would give them the most amount of money. I feel so bad for the people who’s ability to express their creativity on this once encouraging website is being stripped away from them due to a lack of robux or money.

We’ve all complained about the amount of botted clothes for years. ROBLOX is finally trying to fix the issue, just not going about it the right way. I don’t believe this is a money-grab from their side, it’s more likely just a disappointing decision.

I partially agree. Instead of just a money grab, I think they were influenced to choose a bad decision based on the amount of money they may receive. As well as many other people, I also dislike the botting issues happening for a long time. I want them to be fixed, just not by this way. Maybe instead if a fee for uploading clothes, ROBLOX could add more human verification to make sure the clothes aren’t copied and botted. This would be a more supported solution, as well as one that the community wouldn’t hate.

I can see why they want it to be fixed, I do as much as they do, just not in this way.

Yes, 50 for clothing item and 100 for an outfit, It is way better and they can also pick the outfits that they want too, leading to more sales for items. Putting less stress on clothing designers to make a lot of outfits.

50 + 50
Uploading + Selling

This will not be good. You think it will allow more clothes to be made, but in reality, all it is doing is limiting the amount of items made as well as upping the prices. This will make is harder and higher priced to find a good outfit due to many clothing designers either quoting or raising the prices to cope with this “update.” I can’t really stress how much this will impact the clothing designers and the community more negatively than positively. There has to be a better way to fix the botting issue.

In reality, There are places where people pay to put there game on the market. It works and it is for the best. If you wait overtime People will get used to it and it will keep the market clean.

No, the only thing you need to pay for is the upload. You don’t need to pay another 50 to put it on sale

But not on ROBLOX. It is free to make and upload a game, why not for clothing? Both are ways to express creativity. Instead of making clothing designing completely free, they least they be like do is keep it the way it is now and just add more human verification.

No there’s a selling fee

No, there is only an upload fee. Selling is free after it has been uploaded.

There is no selling fee, it is 50 robux per item.

Yes, there are places where people have to pay to make a game. If you are saying we should be grateful we don’t have to do that then my response to that is, the reason this platform is popular is because you don’t need to pay it’s the imagination platform not the pay to imagination platform.

Delay this, make this go nonexistent

Yea. The only thing they will be monitoring is the negative feedback and the discouragement this update will be spreading.

This is what roblox said, please read:

We know what they said. Why have you showed it? (Not angry)
Also, the least they could do is add it to where Premium would get 100% of their income instead if still 70%. Why does ROBLOX even need that 30%? All it is doing is making it harder to earn your 59 robux back after uploading some clothes.
