Update: Can we allow user card badges?

I always wondered what the setting was for but apparently it will let you do something like the following;

This would be extremely good for a small demo of any projects or some kind of ROBLOX artwork. It would be neat for users with an N/A profile to actually have something to represent themselves with. We can show off our work and be proud of it in a discrete way. This would also be neat to show off when we post in the public areas - anyone can hover over it and see it. Here is the article where that image is posted

No,the reasoning being there’s no rank-level permission for it, so visitors could upload their own, inappropriate images.

And that is why custom avatars were removed shortly after the discourse forum was launched

Because having most of the forum, including staff members like the following is a good idea. I constantly attempt to fix it but mine just loves to go back to. I gave up long ago and replaced it client side with my iconic frog. You won’t see it your side but it will on my machine

Custom avatars in the old forum weren’t bad it was heck of a lot easier to recognise people oh hey it’s shark dude. It’s bird guy, it’s Vorlias seal guy dude. I understand they wanted to have our ROBLOX characters to help make it more ‘closely’ linked to ROBLOX that was good and all but I still find it confusing for the most part.

As for the permissions, I made a account on the meta forums in hopes of getting it added. If it could work based on permissions (so only members of the forum could do it) would it be okay then? Or if it was available as a plugin?

How about when it’s allowed to be permission based in a upcoming update?

Don’t really care about user cards, but I still think user profile pictures should remain our avatars. When we had custom avatars, there were a ton of dumb ones like gifs, seizure-inducing memes, etc. I don’t think even a frog would be appropriate now that we’re more public-facing.

Yeah just user card pictures was the idea anyway.

Bumping this thread again because I think it’s now included in the software but could a site admin check?

@Nightgaladeld What do you think about re-enabling user cards now that we can do it for everyone except visitors?
