This is a great update, thank you Roblox!
Finally a useful update that improve the developing platform, it is better than before, this update is really nice, i am so happy that the audios are on private, it is easier to control audio privacy now, and there is so much good musics in the library now!
Thank you so much for this amazing update!
Even though youâre probably just trolling, please donât say anything that might cause Roblox to think players are happy with this horrific update. This update has screwed so many games itâs ridiculous.
Unfortunately, this seems to be the only way you can upload sounds now. It is far too easy to get warned (or outright banned!) if youâre uploading a sound (e.g. of an engine) that a moderator thinks is âtoo loudâ. Iâve found I have to upload things at half volume, then use a DistortionSoundEffect to amplify the sound back to where it should be at.
I did that like a long time ago.
(Still doesnât works btw)
True, although if creators upload public audio and later realize theyâre copyrighted, they should be able to take them down on their own instead of being forced to receive more severe penalties from Roblox even if they werenât infringing copyright on purpose or if theyâve already realized that they were in the wrong; same goes for other asset types.
That does not explain why the ability to distribute audio is paused. I imagine theyâre working on something, but I have no idea what âsolutionsâ theyâre looking for.
Regarding the privacy updates, I think all changes made there are valid. The additional influx of high-quality sound effects is also a very welcome change.
I do have very large concerns for audio upload limits, especially since many are unable to get ID verification â 10 per month is absurdly low, I think that the limit should either be raised or you should have the option to pay for uploaded audio after the free limit.
There are also big concerns regarding the way that audio is found. On most sound-sharing sites, there are extensive categorization and search options to make it easy to find the audio you want. Robloxâs search system is far below inadequate to support this library. I tried to search for some wind ambience â so I searched âwind ambienceâ in the catalog, and all of the results were only tracks named Ambience that were completely arbitrary and not at all related to what I was looking for.
Firstly, I like to state this could of all been prevented in the first place. When the platform was made in the first place. Secondly, I still think it is a hassle.
The solution of âLets remove the copyright audioâ There is at least more than 1 million audios on the platform. Majority of them are not even labeled so it makes it even more complicated.
Roblox watching their own community go to hell after removing âItâs raining tacosâ
My carreer is ruined.
Itâs very hard to find any free & good sound effect for my game,
I canât record any sound effects from websites (which may be illegal to do that)
Roblox, just explain if this is a good step or not.
You will be not forgiven, roblox.
The reasoning behind this update is pretty plausible (if you excuse robloxâs incompetency in moderating audio before, which they only took care of after getting sued $200M)
Itâs just that the execution of this audio permission system has been extremely sloppy to say the least.
Why did you (ROBLOX) even let us add universe ids for audios to be played on, if that doesnât even work until at least 2 weeks later when you finally fix this simple problem?
okay, it has been some more time after my last update;
Its even worse than i originally found out to be:
99% of the â100.000 free sounds made with professionalsâ(something along those lines) are just random taps with no volume and no special effects to them⌠this is just terrible
This is not from roblox but from the creator of the game. Not sure why he blocked roblox audios. Hoping he updates the game and allows players to use roblox music.
When will this be fixed?
Failed to grant Universe permission to use asset ... : Status(StatusCode="PermissionDenied", Detail="User ID ... is not authorized to GrantAssetPermissions.")
They are clearly covering up because the original posts said nothing about copyright or legal orders but rather protecting creatorsâ rights, yet they put âwhile other solutions are being looked intoâ right after stating that we would not be able to set audio back to public in the FAQâŚbut on the question above it does say something about âsolutions for asset privacy managementâ. As the UGC audio distribution is âpausedâ, I have no idea what theyâre doing behind all this except begging players to use Robloxâs audio.
(Worst case scenario is that they hint or tell us weâll never be able to distribute our audio again but please donât spend your day thinking that.)
Still no notice so far on increasing audio limits.
Vehicle simulator has a few hundred SFX in it for various cars, UIs, races, map objects, collisions, braking, drifting, etc. Our game is heavily reliant on sound for a lot of its atmosphere, it is a racing game with a big map, and lots of interactable objects, and there are many sound queues and things that are important.
Many of these are owned by commissioners, or prominent developers, some are owned by developers who worked on this game. Most of these assets none of us have the ability to control, and most are SFX. What do we do about this? How can this be resolved, other than to manually go through hundreds of sounds and redo them all, having no way to get all of these private audios back?
There are a few music assets but most of these are all SFX, and there are hundreds. I canât stress this enough, we can do nothing about it, not even something slow and meticulous, because most of these sounds imply arenât owned by us they are owned by people who were commissioned, or people who originally uploaded these various sounds. This includes engine sounds, collision sounds, general map SFX for various different things, ambiance, etc.
What do we do? We canât contact people, especially because some of them are no longer on Roblox. Some of them wonât want to spend the effort to enable these sounds. We canât really do anything. This is exactly what I anticipated happening when this change was originally announced, and, Iâm really sad that Roblox didnât come up with a better less destructive solution, like temporarily disabling audio loading for these sounds and coming up with some sort of revision process to resolve issues.
It makes our game feel silent and dead, and I suspect it will feel this way for as long as I am on the team for.
What is worse is that so many people donât seem to have any idea about this changeâs existence. I get blamed directly when I am in game because they see my Developer tag, and I need to explain that Roblox got sued, and privated all the audio, and itâs out of our control. Itâs difficult to explain this, because it sounds irrational to people, sometimes people donât even believe me.
C.C. @BitFist @tnavarts not sure who to contact if there is even anybody I can contact, and Iâm not sure what we can do. Are we just stuck with this? If so, the sound design in our game will be almost non existent for years.
Thatâs rather unfortunate. I was lucky and didnât have the main group project I was working on get impacted nearly as hard, mostly because it was small. Still, they couldnât have at least allowed using audios that are in your own inventory?
It was pretty generous of them to give us free audio if we upload at least 100 per 30 days. But unfortunately making user generated audio thatâs more than 6 seconds long private so nobody else will be able to use it seems a bit much. I understand why they wanted to do this, but there are other ways they could of been able to deal with this situation with uploading audio on the site.
