I think Roblox will only approve audio if the original creator or licenser grants permission first, Roblox cannot just contact everyone and ask if they want their audio to stay or not. Over time, I assume they will do more partnerships and expand their audio library to include more creators, but for now, they are focused on making sure the copyright filter will not be bypassed again.
I uploaded an audio on MARCH 19TH and itâs still not approved reuploaded on march 23rd so from original upload it has been ~20 days alreadyâŚ
Itâs even gonna cause Roblox moderation to hit a new low. Roblox moderation is opposite. Those who break the Roblox terms of service are still allowed on the platform while people who do follow Roblox his policies are still punished. Even the audio upload limit sucks. This hurts small developers a lot. Why is Roblox uploading a lot of inappropriate audio without them being deleted? Is this gonna end up like when Roblox uploaded audios with swear words.
Currently the only audio I can hear in the game Iâm working on, are audios made by the game creator, or by me. Other audios simply do not work even if theyâre given permission.
I would like to amend this statement by saying that as of now, the permission system seems to be working fine now, as others can hear audio that I gave permission to the experience.
Still waiting for the day when they can be made public thoughâŚ
Itâs a little inconvenient that they havenât posted any updates in nearly a month. Thinking about it further, though, Iâm under the assumption that the 2,000 audio upload limit that was given to random users is their way of gauging an average rate, as an empirical survey, and I would hope that weâll get some news after the 30 days have passed.
Edit: Sorry, I didnât mean to reply to your post
any ETA on the ability to make audios public? I have several hundreds of songs I need to replace in my game and even though I can upload 2000 a month, itâs pretty much impossible to re-upload them all in a reasonable time frame especially considering things like moderation
So today, we were testing audios I uploaded to use in my group place. I uploaded them to my account and not the group audios, but only I can hear the audios and no one else can. How do I fix that?? The audios have been approved & uploaded.
can i just say that the audio discovery plugin is⌠very broken? like, refreshing does not work, sorting does not work- and it sometimes links the completely wrong audios. itâs been like this for a long long while. has anybody else had these issues because theyâve made replacing audios a hassle
Sometimes it doesnât check properly if permissions are given - the thing it does best is detecting audios longer than 6 seconds, and audios not made by the game creator/someone with experience access.
That is an excellent theory, though it seems like itâll be a long process and it still leaves small marketplace distributors in the dark (myself included) without Roblox themselves admitting it, which I doubt they would.
I just realized something. If they were absolutely worried about the 6 second window and/or their failure at maintaining the copyright filter and if they didnât want to pause audio distribution entirely, they could have allowed newly uploaded audio less than 6 seconds to be public and/or greatly reduced the audio length limit to 6 seconds for uploads. It would still be a bad update though.
I still donât know what to do since this has made me lose all motivation, knowing that one of my games had 37 audios privated. It got completely devastated.
admin day when everyone closes
david came to check the admins
that flying chair tho
If the existing audio thatâs longer than 6 seconds are gonna stay private for good IâM QUITTING!
So, is there going to be an announcement or update on audio privacy? The absolute lack of communication is just flat out unacceptable.
According to a screenshot from the audio privacy DevHub page, they may have been planning on eventually allowing audio creators to permanently undo the changes themselves, but they said in the original post that they do not know when.
My problem with that though, is that once you make an audio public it says you canât make it private again, but how does that have anything to do with empowering asset management and control by the creators? Maybe it follows Robloxâs tradition of not allowing creators to completely take down their own assets even if they were trying to remove copyright and avoid DMCA / copyright penalties from Roblox.
I fear that they have walked away from the task of trying to allow audio to go public and moved on to other things. Now that layered clothing is coming out, I wonder what theyâll do next and sadly I donât think it will be trying to allow audio to go public even though they said the inability to do so would be temporary. Some may argue that Roblox is pretty much only benefitting from its investors and top experiences now, but even some of the top developers are making less Robux now because they have indefinitely removed their radio gamepasses due to the changes, however some radio / boombox passes in other experiences are still for sale.
Now Iâm happy to know that the current problem would be temporary. (See EDIT note) One question, will it automatically apply to every sounds uploaded before the privacy change, which would be mostly convenient, or will we have to do it manually?
EDIT: Iâm not sure where things are going anymore, so Iâm marking the sentence as a âspoilerâ for now. Hopefully, the change isnât permanent, but by how things are going, it sadly may be.
It appears that is a question that everyone is looking for answers to, since Roblox stated that you would eventually be able to make audio public and that they just donât know when, even though the lawsuit speculation might hint that the inability to distribute audio or make audio public may be here to stay, even if the majority of developers of non-front page experiences leave the platform or otherwise stop updating/fixing them. However, on the Developer Hub, the article on adding sound to your game now urges you to filter your search for âlegal, free to use audio by Robloxâ, which may indicate that community-shared audio has met a tragic fate.
The image below is from the Audio Privacy DevHub article, and I speculate it is what it will look like when the ability to manually make audio public gets turned on (if they do go through with it).
