In my opinion 6 seconds is way too short, they should make it 30 seconds or something, they said they’re specifically targeting music so like what music lasts less than 30 seconds lol
It’s been 3 months, when are we going to be able to make audio public again?
I imagine Roblox is still trying to sell sponsorships instead of figuring out a way to allow audio sharing again…
Surely not being able to afford an advanced copyright detector isn’t the case because of how big the company is.
Why can’t Roblox just have a better copyright detector?
Also, why can’t we make audios public yet…?
it’s been months… when will be able to make audio public again?
I’m very disappointed with this article.
In conclusion, every audio was private, and grant permissions were still rejected, and error.
When audios will make public soon?
Who knows? We don’t know. IT PASSED 3 MONTHS AGO, still no response?
So get this, I’m looking for jet engine sounds and there is maybe 3 MAX that I have found from before this update. Last time I uploaded GPWS warnings sounds I had received a ban. Others have gotten falsely banned for uploading engine noises for being “loud”. It’s a jet engine, I’m not going to make it obnoxious in game, yet your incredible sfx library has zero jet engine sounds. So how would I go about uploading it without a ban?
Your GPWS callouts were probably banned because they could be ‘mixed’ together in a way to make it say audios ROBLOX isn’t particularly fond of, e.g 69 and 420. Otherwise I can’t see a reason why they would be banned - very odd.
But this is getting off-topic, we’re reaching the 4th month of no updates regarding this, simply unacceptable behaviour from Developer Relations as usual. It’s literally their job to give useful updates to developers.
A developer that makes a storm chasing game received a 7 day ban for, get this, a Diesel engine idle noise. Roblox seems to hate vehicle noises for some reason.
This was a huge lie (from a big company to even their top creators), just to get us to stop complaining. My longer narration assets, for instance, still became private.
It’s been three going on four months. Still, none of my private sounds have been set to public or have unlocked the ability to manually share with all games.
Still no news about their plans for decal privacy or mesh privacy, or their long term audio privacy solution. Model privacy would seem beneficial for some but would be extremely complicated to carry out in my opinion.
I feel like Roblox just exposed themselves even more (about promising a follow-up and instead nothing for three months).
I’m annoyed at the fact that every single time I publish a game, this pop-up keeps appearing to give some random audio asset access to the game when it doesn’t even exist, but it might exist in my other games.
An audio asset within HD Admin is constantly begging for me to grant permission, yet it only exists in my other games and not the current ones I’m publishing to Roblox.
wow this update was a big damage to games
it made a lot of gmes silent, and UPLOADING 10 AUDIOS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA
They are probably going to neglect the current audio situation, just like how they obviously failed to continue maintaining the audio bot since the previous copyright sweep in 2018. Despite how large the company is, I’m not sure Roblox believes they can afford a team specialized for audio bot maintenance and improved asset moderation.
Despite their effort to make the platform (I mean metav…cough) better for everyone, they are continuously getting rid of community-appealing features…I mean…we lost Egg Hunts, we lost statuses, we lost sales, we’ve “temporarily” lost audio sharing
(the lawsuit could’ve been avoided honestly, and they can always fix the bot and, as with all machines, do frequent maintenance),
we’re losing the Bl#xys, we’re losing new Roblox toys / physical products, we’ve “temporarily” lost promotions to Regular, we lost the genre filter (many of the top games aren’t even used in R#b##x’s ads and probably don’t appeal to investors), and the moderation flaws and outages are at an all time high; you can clearly see they are out of touch with the imaginations they powered.
This year it’s been sponsored events one after another, including a concert that never happened. Anyone else anxious to see whether any other big changes will be made this year?
yeah 2022 has been the worst year ever for us Robloxians
I hope Roblox (and BitFist) starts to regret all of the bad stuff they’ve done by damaging this plat from so severey. It feels like they don’t care about the “Powering Imagination” anymore!
Roblox got sued for allowing copyrighted audio on the platform (probably because they neglected their audio bot again) so they had to do something.
But like I said, this should not be the permanent solution, especially if they’re promising creators that the ability to share audio (including all SFXs) would eventually be re-enabled. If, in the unlikely event it turns out their deal with their music partners prohibits them from ever doing so, then we have definitely been lied to.
In addition to that problem, Roblox has not taken any action since they offered that upload limit survey.
Oh, my gosh. Their moderations must be messed up again.
I hope this comes to meshes and images quickly. This can help prevent assets from being used when stolen, leaked or taken without permission of the creator, this is particularly challenging when working for a game with a big group of developers which are also developing in not only their own games but other games as well. This would very encourage developers to develop their own unique assets which make different games unique. Although archiving might be a solution, it is not the best, it involves the time to find out the fact that your asset has been used without your permission. Which by then might already have been exported and re-uploaded and distributed by others. By having permission settings, this would help a bunch.
How to destroy 99% of games on the platform very easily - not something I’d want to see thank you.
If privacy benefits were added to meshes and images it would be best if it only affected assets that were never distributed through the marketplace (because only the creator of that asset can grant that authority [unless his or her account was compromised], but currently can’t prevent the asset Id from being used by anyone) and that creators would still have the option to give copying permission to specific games or to the entire general public.
He hearted my reply above. My suggestion would honestly have a very minimal impact.
