It would’ve been nice if this update had happened a decade or so ago if it had to happen at all, as that most likely would’ve prevented so many notable games from using copyrighted audio.
The technology probably wasn’t a thing back then though, but I think a lot of the frusturation is out of concern for the games that we grew up playing on ROBLOX that may not be exactly the same again after this.
Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t all three of those audios not licensed to be used in our games anyway? If so the issue is that they were used to begin with and that problem needs to be solved. Nostalgia isn’t an important factor here.
Nothing in the copyright law says they can’t re-organize the audio library. You can’t search by newest uploaded, filter out ROBLOX’s audio (which there are now thousands of), and you can’t even filter out things below a specific duration which would be crucial in helping us creators find audios that do fit under 6 seconds.
What I’m saying is that if this update had been pushed out a decade ago then people on the platform most likely wouldn’t have used copyrighted audio like the ones I’ve mentioned already but instead would’ve done what ROBLOX expects us to do.
Like I said, a lot of games from around that time used audio made by Nintendo and other companies/artists. This probably wouldn’t have been as much of an issue if ROBLOX had stepped up sooner than later.
I (Like many other developers) were very concerned with this new update. It’s VERY amazing to see that Roblox actually took our feedback serious for once!! THANK YOU ROBLOX!!!
I know of someone with 7 alts, who all have the 2K limit and the only thing they have is access to a game with players. Same with my other alt, young accounts and all.
As for all the alts I have that do not have this, it’s all 10. Money spent does not seem to mean anything, and these accounts literally do nothing but have access by the way.
My guess is that it’s a temporary thing that will last until the end of the month to help developers upload new audio before the update. However, I wouldn’t mind if it were permanent as long as nobody abuses it.
The addition of the sound effects search greatly improves the audio catalog. Finding sound effects was the number 1 thing I was most worried about when the deadline was approaching.
I don’t think the profile is the only place visits are counted. Developer awards are automatically given for even group games, so I assume those count as well.
Although I wish the profile visit count also included group game visits.
This is a great step in the right direction for audio in the future. Do we expect roblox to eventually partner with more audio sites? Also, its great to see staff listening to the users opinions. Great work!
