Roblox allows these games to stay up while their outsourced moderation contractors remove legitimate games with no accountability or realistic chances at appeal.
Communities wonât be available to users under 13. There are too many legal and regulatory hurdles to jump through. Thatâs why virtually no social media platforms allow under 13 users.
Not that itâs a good idea, but they seem to want to do it anyway.
Maybe if you cared about making your platform safer, you could hire more human moderators, instead of heavy over-reliance on ineffective AI moderation systems? According to a quick Google search, Roblox only employs around 1.5-2k human moderators, but has around 79.5 million daily active users as of Q2 2024. Thatâs approximately one human moderator for every 39-53 thousand users on Roblox. For comparison, Tiktok, another large platform, hires around 40,000 human moderators.
Bandaid, quick-fix solutions like this are just more of an inconvenience to users who might not be old enough to use Discord to give devs feedback on their games. How are <13 users supposed to give feedback/report bugs/suggest things now? Through private messages on the website? Oh wait, you recently removed those too because it was easier to just remove those than actually moderate scams in DMs.
This is a thoughtful, but bad update. Some peopleâs accounts are under 13 by accident. They want to change it to over 13, but they need an ID. Some people value their privacy, and donât want to share their ID
Just curious, I noticed that these Roblox Communities (aka groups) features and Roblox Connect/Chat features have unintentionally been competitor to Guilded, a platform you guys own.
Will Roblox Communities and Roblox connect hurt Guildedâs future? And if not, what are plans for Guilded?
This is actually a good update. While to some, it may seem like simply blocking âfree speechâ, users below the age of 13 or those who have unverified accounts are the most likely to spam, spread misinformation, send scams or do any of that which harms players a lot more than not being able to speak.
I have no idea if this even prevents any inappropriate posting or not, as likely the people posting it are â13+â accounts.
These games stay up, while my game gets banned for âgamblingâ even though it used a virtual currency that cannot be bought or traded for robux, had guaranteed wins each roll, and essentially was an rng game. great!
Wow⌠once again Roblox is removing critical features without any replacement. Sure, forums is coming in 3-6 months (or later because we all know how often features get delayed) but until then our players have zero means of communicating bug reports and feature requests and have no way to interact at all. Whatâs more is the group wall is FILTERED and easy to moderate if your community is set to manual approval (My 400k member group has been on manual approval for 8 years).
This change is detrimental to my community.
where OpenCloud api to rank people in a group
I agree strongly with this feature. I happen to be in management for a relatively large roblox group (50,000 members), and itâs interesting to see the contrast between the amount of users that contribute positively and negatively on group posts.
Open cloud ranking api plz
As much as I agree that we need to keep communities safe, I donât think that limiting our features for 6+ months with a really buggy release of an alternative will help us. For crying out loud just let us ban users from groups or stop allowing special characters in wall posts
This is just shit. Like Iâve mentioned in other posts, I have a <13 friend who uses the group wall a lot (APPROPRIATELY), and now he is going to be limited along with millions of other users. Roblox this is becoming and IS unacceptable and is turning into a social media site.
This is bad for engagement. I used to ask my groups a âQuestion of the weekâ to increase engagement with the group and now a massive amount of my userbase can no longer answer the question of the week until the discussions feature comes out.
Minor improvements, but the platform will remain a hub for predatory behavior until you start terminating and HWID banning offending accounts no matter how much of the DAU they count towards. It is simply way too easy for offenders to come back again and again under new names. You have the tools for this already, start using them.
It is absolutely disgraceful that these games are being recommended to kids. Having them on the platform for children to seek out on their own is bad enough.
Honestly, if groups get a forums feature, with topics, threads, and polls, that would be insane. Developers could easily collect feedback and see public opinion without having to set up a Discord server or sort through loads of spam on the old walls.
However, there should also be an email verification requirement to prevent spam. (This could be configured by the groupâs owner).
Overall this would be a great change.
