Currently when users get warned or banned for an infraction of the Terms of Service, such as a potentially innapropriate image or other asset item, the image will supposedly be displayed, however it is commonly instead replaced with the standard circle with a cross through it that is used to publicly replace moderated content.
It can be difficult with vague descriptions of warnings/bans when content is moderated to determine the true cause or infraction, and in some cases where users upload multiple images daily, it can be difficult to determine a specific image that may cause a user to get a ban notification, which makes it especially difficult when an infracting asset is displayed in a ban report as “Content Deleted” with a content deleted logo.
I feel moderation is important, and it should be important to properly convey to users what has been moderated and why. I understand a moderator cannot leave a detailed note on every ban as they do this for a living, however displaying moderated content properly may be important to detail to users what not to do in the future.
IIRC they do this in case your account is compromised so you’re not seeing inappropriate content uploaded by someone else.
Out of curiosity, have you ever experienced an issue with this? Whenever I’ve seen this happened, it’s someone’s friend who knows they uploaded something inappropriate but are trying to safe face, saying they never did.
I’ve seen this before, and quite a lot of the screenshots posted on this forum or elsewhere of bans or warnings show moderated content, but doesn’t actually show moderated content.
It’s really vague because it’s supposed to tell you what was moderated, and it does, but usually the name on the report of the item is just [ Content Deleted ].
The reason there’s still a preview is probably just because of duct tape. There are a lot of areas of the site that are maintained just enough to be usable until the web team has a chance to do an overhaul.
Yeah, I wouldn’t trust people complaining about their bans on the forums. Anyone who gets banned is eager to blame it on ROBLOX – when you upload something inappropriate, you know what it is. You can probably ignore this issue.
I don’t care about blamings or arguements or what, I am not defending anyone and that is not the purpose of this post.
And yes, it is a duct tape fix, and yes, I am asking it be properly fixed.
And as evident by a lot of moderation, no, it is not always obvious why things are moderated.
Very correct. Additionally (towards Echo), what if I upload an entire set of images that may be able to be deemed inappropriate for some of the newer guidelines (i.e. the low res image guideline)? How am I supposed to know which image / images out of that set got moderated before looking at my inventory page?
As someone who likes to make roblox content, sometimes my assets get removed for being “Inapropiate (Which i think should be more descriptive, but that’s besides the point)”. Problem is, i am not able to check said assets due to the ban messages displaying the deleted asset’s thumbnail, which gets deleted, showing the asset deleted icon. Here’s a screenshot from a warning i got ~5 minutes ago. The asset is shown as deleted, so i’m not able to identify what asset caused the probem. This started happening out of nonwhere and it’s pretty annyoing
This raises a pretty big problem as i’ve been checking trough my assets and they’re not deleted, so not only is this lacking details but it’s also confusing me, because i’m not sure if an actual asset was moderated or if this is just a bug. Hope that this bug get’s fixed, as it affects me a lot when making assets
To reproduce this, simply upload a rule breaking asset (The least dangerous method of this is uploading unreadable text) and you will see how the warning message will not display what the image was
I have not had any images moderated for the past few years so I never noticed that this hasn’t been addressed…
If Roblox can’t tell you why your images break the terms of service, how are people supposed to learn to not upload that content in the future? I have had many cases in the past where I have uploaded an image 10 times in a row because they keep getting declined, but don’t tell me why. And eventually one of them gets through and I’m happy.
This should really be sorted, but I’m sure Roblox has a reason for it if this hasn’t been changed for such a long time.
It was even harder because I know I didn’t upload anything related to nudity, or so I thought, and I assumed maybe some old image I uploaded and forgot about was the reason, because I had nothing else to assume really
Turns out the reason for the warning was because I uploaded a copylocked package of my solid green dummy npc
This was indeed violating a solid body color rule I wasn’t aware of, so the warning was appropriate I guess, but without the image there was no way of me knowing that the warning was related to it
