Uploading Models on studio causes crashing

Hey fellow Roblox Devs,

I wanted to bring a critical issue to your attention that I’ve been experiencing recently when trying to upload models from Roblox Studio to the Roblox platform. Unfortunately, this process is causing Studio to crash and forcefully close itself, which has been quite frustrating and disruptive to my workflow. I wanted to reach out and see if any of you have encountered a similar problem or if anyone has found a workaround.

I’ve noticed a number of developers reporting the same issue across various forums, so it seems to be affecting multiple users. The Studio crash happens consistently when attempting to upload models, and it’s becoming a real challenge to make progress on my projects. I’ve lost work due to these unexpected crashes, and it’s quite disheartening.

In the meantime, I would appreciate any advice or temporary workarounds that you may have discovered. I’ve tried saving my work frequently, but it’s not foolproof, and it’s still frustrating to lose progress. If any of you have found alternative methods for uploading models or have come across any plugins that may offer a workaround, please share your insights.

Thanks

I got the exact same problem too! This problem also occurs when I attempt to test my games in studio, studio just closes itself with no warning.

At this point, I physically cannot work on roblox anymore. And still no solution to this major issue.

Same exact issue, I tried to upload mine but still crashed.

Someone needs to make this topic aware.

Same here. I tried with Roblox Studio Mod Manager and vanilla Roblox Studio.

I’m also experiencing the issue, but overwriting an existing asset works for me but it’s quite annoying trying to find unused models to overwrite. I do hope they fix this issue soon.

Hi all,

I’d like to share a workaround that was discovered by a friend of mine @estxril. It has been quite helpful.

Workaround Steps:

  1. Duplicate the desired model.
  2. Convert the duplicated model to a package. Ignore any “Conversion to Package Failed” errors that may occur.
  3. Return to the original model and publish it on the platform based on your preferences.

I found this workaround to be incredibly effective. Please let me know if it works for you as well.

Thank God I’m not the only one getting this, I found out you MAY be able to save it without crashing. It’s kind of a sucky way but it works. If you just publish the place and disable team create, it won’t crash. Well that’s only for me, I don’t know about anyone else. I have been getting this problem for at least 4 weeks.

It just freezes and closes studio.

Nope, I am getting this in private studios/brand new studios as well. I’ve uninstalled multiple times.

It would be nice, if roblox could take a look at this. I have no access to the bugs report section on this site.

I’ve got a solution.

First, check that the place or game is saved to Roblox, and it will work fine when you upload a file.
or if it crashes, open the auto-recovery file. When Roblox Studio crashes and you open it again, you will see a popup that says Auto Recovery Found. Click open and select the latest recovery (the highest number), like “Place_AutoRecovery_13” After you open the latest recovery, save the game to Roblox, and try uploading it. It should work.

What do you mean “private studios”?
