Usage Of Germany During WW2

So recently I discovered this game. I was wondering if I might be able to make a WW2 version. Then I though about if I was allowed to use German NPCs using the shirts and pants on the Roblox Catalog. As long as I don’t use any Hitler references, Swastikas, or the name Nazi any where in my game would that be allowed? I would use the German NPCs for Attack AIs, in the GFX thumbnail, etc. What are the limits or is this idea completely off limits.

It should be fine if you keep it away from taboo topics, Might I suggest using the German flag as a place holder? Arm bands would be a no-go obviously. https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203313410-Roblox-Community-Rules The community guidelines could be resourceful~!

Just on the topic of that game - “Vietnam War Simulator”.

The name is already heartless enough. Wars happen all the time but why make a simulator out of something specific?

Has anyone played this game yet??? It’s degrading, atrocious and racist - the object of the game is to shoot the stereotypical Asian farmer with a straw hat and knife. You get money for killing them. This isn’t like fighting a wave of zombies or an FPS where you are playing against other players, it’s just spam shooting at a target race.

On top of that, memorials for fallen soldiers (nationality not specified) are shown on-screen if you die to the farmer NPCs. Perhaps the intent is to honour the victims, but why make a simulator to do that? By painting the enemy as the stereotypical Asian farmer and the player as a classic armed soldier, it implies that the war was between the US and Vietnam, when the conflict itself was much deeper than “us versus them”.

I’m not going to get into the complexities of it. All I can say is, play this for yourself and ask yourself if this should be allowed in Roblox - if it is appropriate at all, for any age. Don’t just take my word for it, go check out what kids are being exposed to there.

So with this in mind about the game you are using as an example, please consider the sensitivity of these types of events. WWII is probably the most cited, most involved war with so much cruelty and racism mixed in. It was the attempt at world domination and the resistance to fight back. What aspect of the war are you planning to highlight?

I think by even calling it WWII “simulator” you are using some aspects of the war, some ways to identify which side is which. In the end, if it’s just a gunfight, why even attribute it to specific parties? Attaching a German flag will probably be offensive to German players as well - this whole labeling and war-themed game industry is something dangerous to partake in. If you distance yourself from the stereotypes, racist content, and other convictions of the war, I think you will be fine. But at that point, you’re not really talking about WWII anymore, which is why I think using a label for a war is not a good idea for any game. But that’s my opinion.

Oh yeah and I really think that game you cited has issues, please if anyone is reading this, go check it and see for yourself. I think it needs to be held into question.

Just to be clear some people want to fight in the wars sometimes and this is their only way. Even if that sounds stupid It’s true. For example I wanted to fight in Vietnam, Civil War, Revolution, and WW2 but wasn’t alive. When you say stereotypical asian farmers you have to remember that’s what a lot of them looked like. If you go back you’ll see huge atrocities committed by the US against Civilians for fear the were North Vietnam. As someone who is part asian directly descended from an Asian Grandparent (Born in Japan) I don’t see an issue with this at all. The reason It’s so hard for us to wrap our head around one style of human is that we’ve grown up with diversity. I’m not trashing that or anything. But when the enemy did dress like that just to fool our Soldiers that’s what should be added. Now of course I’m not going to have German flags or any sort of insignia other than their uniform. Yes they will look like a “stereotype” in a way because Germany only really accepted Arians and a lot of them will look as such. The issue I have with both sides is It’s not really smart. Children learn they can be a German in WW2 and might start to sympathize with them. Granted that’s not my say if they believe in that sort of thing but I’d just rather not have any connection to that possibly in my game. I’m more interested in what is allowed when it comes to uniforms usage for AI, Thumbnails, ETC.

Edit: I was planing on having more uniforms for allied such as American, Russian, British, Canadian, Chinese, ETC.
