Useful terrain plugins?

I’m currently working on redesigning the terrain for my primarily city-based game, looking to expand the map + clean up the map overall.

I was brainstorming while doing the prep-work for the new terrain, there must be some good terrain plugins out there? However with how ROBLOX’s catalog is easily infested with content containing viruses and other malicious scripts, I figured it’d be best to post about it here. Hopefully you guys got some neat plugins that could be of use for me.

Thanks!

ROBLOX Studio has a built in terrain tool that’s amazing.

I wouldn’t say so. Being able to adjust the increment to 0.01 would be amazing.

The terrain can be very complex to work with - having to do your own adjustments that are time consuming; when ROBLOX could add a bunch of features to their terrain tool themselves in order to make terrain-related tasks easier for ROBLOX Developer’s.

Part to terrain is very useful, It lets you build with parts and convert it to terrain.

Here it is: Part to Terrain - Roblox

There is a beta edition for 1500 robux: Part to Terrain DEV - Roblox

Just purchased it. Excited to try this out - hopefully it speeds up the process of terrain development as I imagine it should.

Thank you for the referral.

Mind telling us the difference between the paid one and the free one?

Why did you pay 1,500 ROBUX for a plug-in that just turns parts into the ROBLOX Studio built-in terrain…

The part-to-terrain plug-ins do not provide the level of precision you talked about above, instead they provide the general shape.

For that level of precision you will need to create the terrain using triangles. There are several plug-ins that do this but its not as easy as the built-in plug-in.

The difference is one is dev edition one is free working addition

I’ve heard that it has really good features. I’m not sure what they are and I wish they’d respond so we’d know.

I’m starting to think the price was 1,500 just so people wouldn’t buy it.

The paid one is a early look at new features and changes that will be coming to the free version. Other than that, there is no bonus or extra content compared to the free version.

It’s a hard balance of undervaluing the work by the developer and overcharging people for one plugin. It’s set to the DevEx rate of $5.25 before sales fee is applied. Five dollars to support a small developer like myself really matters and shows that people would love to see it get better. If someone can’t afford it, that’s okay. You can always use the free version and give back something like feedback to show that you support it.

Besides, If I were to change it to a lower price now, people would start to think I scammed them by putting it at a lower price when they had bought it at a higher price. It’s kind of locked in now.

I would recommend making your terrain in world machine and import the heightmap into roblox.
