Users being given verified badge for uploading rule-breaking UGC

Quoting myself from a post I made a while ago:

Expected behavior

People should not be given the verified badge for uploading UGC assets that clearly violate Roblox’s ToS and Community Standards. Roblox needs to do better background checks before giving people the verified badge, as this is a huge flaw in the way it’s given out. Users that currently have the verified badge but obtained it through this should also have it removed immediately.

As I said in my other post, there are definitely many other cases of this happening and therefore the process for giving users the verified badge must be improved in some way to prevent this.

That’s not how verification works. The system doesn’t check whether an item breaks the rules when granting the badge—it just looks at whether the creator meets the sales and Robux revenue requirements. If an item violates ToU, it gets moderated. If it doesn’t, it stays on the platform, meaning the creator naturally qualifies for verification upon reaching the milestone.

The actual issue here isn’t them getting verified; it’s the existence of these bundles in the first place. If they hadn’t been allowed on the platform, they wouldn’t have been able to meet the requirements, and we wouldn’t even be having this discussion. The examples mentioned in this report have already been moderated, and many similar items continue to be taken down alongside them.

Additionally:

  • For “Creators of Avatar Items” verification, the badge is given solely based on sales and revenue criteria—it’s not an endorsement of trust or quality.
  • If an item remains on the platform long enough to contribute to verification, it means it wasn’t flagged as a violation at that time. If the concern is how long it takes for moderation to catch these, that’s a separate issue.
  • Roblox’s policy on badge revocation isn’t as clear-cut as suggested. They only state that they “reserve the right” to revoke the badge for repeated violations, not that they “automatically” do so. The policy also mentions that if violations result in platform removal, the badge is lost by default, but beyond that, there’s no concrete guarantee on enforcement.
  • Given this ambiguity, this seems less like a bug report and more like a feature request. If the argument is that verification should be revoked in cases like this, that’s a suggestion for a policy change, not a report of a system malfunction.

It’s not exactly surprising that you’d be biased against this considering you’re part of the problem I described.

Your account that owns this group is also verified for what I would assume is the same reason I’ve shown in this post. This is a fundamental flaw in the way the verified badge is given out and is therefore a bug whether you like it or not. Just because you fit into the group of people I’m referring to doesn’t mean you get to dismiss this because you don’t like what I’m saying.

While you did make some valid points, your opinion on this is clearly biased.

None of the items there violate any rules, so I didn’t understand your point, and that account was not verified from that group.

I can understand where you’re coming from, but implementing this would basically make verification impossible to achieve, look at how many Bundles and Dynamic Heads have been deleted that aren’t stolen/infringe on any rights and simply because there’s been updates to guidelines around what content is and isn’t allowed.

Size requirements, modesty layers, static faces- (Which they actually ended up reverting.)

For something changing so often this would be hard to enforce, feels like they should have a concrete set of rules before they create background checks for user verification.

Checks out lol

This is a bug because Roblox is allowing people who are actively breaking their rules to be given the verified badge, despite clearly stating that they can and will remove it if the user has repeatedly violated the rules which includes IP infringement.

They obviously shouldn’t be able to get it in the first place for uploading assets that never should have made it past moderation, so I’m not sure why this is even up for debate.

They’re not saying that. They’re just saying, “We also reserve the right to revoke the badge if a recipient repeatedly violates our standards and terms,” and there’s no expression here that implies they will do that. They’re just reserving this right.

Alright I don’t want to hear anything from UGC “creators” who are uploading rip-offs, your opinions on this are clearly biased and I won’t be responding to them nor do I want to hear them.

Thanks.
