Using Find All has a chance to freeze studio, resulting in a crash

We have feature changes coming to revise the current find/replace and quick find functionality, and this will be addressed with those changes. Thanks again!

This is occurring almost every time I use the feature, have these changes been rolled out? Not sure if it’s related, but I’m using the new beta ui…

This started occuring to me about 1-2 days ago. I’ve never had this issue before.

Has these feature been released yet ?
I am still experiencing the issue since months and it’s ultra annoying, I have to always save before risking to use the Search All feature…

I have forwarded this to @Bug-Support in hopes for an update.

I can provide a place file where using the Find All feature will reliably crash studio

This bug was first reported more than a year ago and it stills occurs to this day. It’s slowly getting on my nerves

Today, I was trying to look for all occurrences of “196” in my game to replace them with workspace.Gravity, but when I search “196”, the freeze bug happens 100% of the times.

I tried doing the same thing in the default baseplate but the freeze bug doesn’t happen there.

Hi,

There is an update on this: we have started work on a project that will fix this. Stay tuned for updates on the DevForum.

This is still a major issue and happens extremely frequently, hopefully you guys have an update on this very soon

Hi,

Thanks for checking in on this, work is ongoing for the fix and we’re hoping for a beta within the next couple of months though the timeline is tentative…

Bump, happens several time a day if I’m not in a team-create environment, but just a normal local file

Happened to me too every day, it gets stuck “auto-saving”. So now I always Ctrl + s before using Find All and that solved it

same it happens a few times a day to me hopefully itll get a fix sometime

I only have this happen on macos, I have never had this happen on a windows personal computer.
It is also possible due to bad network speed, because when I do something not in published mode I never have this happen.
So I think the problem is in the connection for me personally.

I use windows for Roblox and this is a fairly common occurrence for me, especially of late.

This issue is STILL happening and very frequently too, where is the fix we were promised ages ago?

Any update on when this will be fixed? I would consider this to be a rather urgent bug that needs fixed as it massively impacts game development flow when working on projects that contain several modules / scripts…

If this is of any help, it only appears to lock studio up / crash when you try using it by having whatever text highlighted in the editor. If you have nothing highlighted and search, doesn’t appear to crash.

For the last few months I’ve noticed this bug happening occasionally when using find all. For the last few days, however, it has affected me every single time I open the find all menu. As of writing this, Studio is completely frozen and requires me to use the task manager. This has happened multiple times today already and I’ve only been in Studio for an hour or two.

Due to my muscle memory I keep pressing Ctrl Shift F, completely locking Studio up once I return to the game window. Only after do I realise what I’ve just done.

I have lost a fair amount of work due to autosaves not working.
