In Roblox experiences, verified users are currently missing the verified badge icon next to their username in the ESC menu player list. This is the menu that appears when pressing ESC in-game, under the “People” tab. Despite the badge showing correctly in all other in-game interfaces—such as chat, name overhead UI, and the leaderboard—it does not appear in this specific player list. This inconsistency is leading to confusion and false accusations.
As shown in the screenshots attached below, players often assume the user is faking the badge or exploiting due to its absence in the menu. In the example provided, multiple users accused the verified player of using a fake badge or hacks, solely because the verification icon was missing from the ESC player menu. This creates trust issues and can lead to confusion amongst players.
This appears to be a simple oversight, as the badge rendering works fine elsewhere. It’s likely a missing badge component or display condition in the UI layout used by the ESC menu player list. Fixing this would require syncing badge display logic across all UIs that render player info—something that should be relatively minor from a technical standpoint, given it’s already implemented elsewhere.
This issue affects verified users across all experiences and creates an unnecessary layer of confusion during gameplay. The fix would greatly improve user clarity and reduce false reports or moderation flags against verified creators.

Funny enough, in the menu there’s actually a setting where you can disable verified badges to prevent any attention being brought to you. Unfortunately it doesn’t function as it should and It only hides your badge in the leaderboard and chat, not above your character’s head in your in game username.
Still waiting for an update. I believe the verification badge showing up in the ESC UI is far more crucial than it showing anywhere else, as the ESC UI is (as far as I know) unmodifiable and unhidable.

A little disappointed that this doesn’t show up in the new redesign. Would’ve been a perfect opportunity to have it there.
People still think my checkmark is fake because it doesn’t show up in the ESC menu

@PadinFull89 You asked if this issue is reproducible, I said yes, and then you ghosted this report. What’s going on here? Engineers are actively redesigning this UI without taking year-old bug reports into account.
@DrRanchDressing Is there any chance you can take a look at this and/or pass it onto the right team(s)? It should not take this much time and reporter effort for such a simple, one-line fix to be implemented.

From the official Verified Badge FAQ: “If a profile does not have the badge attached to their display name, but it appears somewhere else, like in their bio or in images, then it’s not a verified account.”
The inconsistency of the verified badge not showing attached to your display name in the ESC menu is horrible, considering many games opt for a custom player list where most of the time, support for the Verified badge is omitted, leading to players relying on the overhead Verified badge (where UGC exists to have a fake Verified badge over your head…)

I’m bumping this because I just noticed that in the grid-view of the ESC menu, it seems that the Plus icon shows where the Verified badge should be instead. I believe that this would be a relatively simple and easy fix.
It’d be nice if we could get an update on this because many Verified users alike have complained about the Verified badge not showing up in the ESC menu, which is the one part of the UI that developers cannot modify, so it’d be good for checking the authenticity of a user’s badge, as there exists fake Verified badge UGC accessories, or developers could simply add a fake Verified badge to specified users in-game on the leaderboard and above the aforementioned user’s head.
cc @Klaugrana001, I believe this deserves more attention than it is currently receiving as some people have gone to the lengths of reporting me for impersonation because they think the Verified badge is meant to show up in the ESC menu.
Like I mentioned before, the Verified Badge FAQ explicitly states that if the Verified badge does not appear attached to a user’s display name, then it’s not a real Verified badge. The inconsistency of it not appearing in the ESC menu contradicts that, and adds an unnecessary layer of confusion to players trying to discern whether a Verified badge is real or fake.

A separate issue here is that badges do not show up in the square-view of the ESC menu, which is the default. Since the grid-view shows player badges (i.e Plus, Premium, etc), the default square view should also reflect that.

CC @Kresselia1. Apologies if you do not work on this, but if possible please have a look here. I’ve seen numerous people in-game verbally mention that they’ve reported me for the badge not displaying in the ESC menu, and thus they assume that I do not actually have the Verified badge, and that I am using some sort of exploit/trick to have it show.
