Verify Developer idea

Hi, there developer with the new update coming on 27 of Oct I was surprised so I was thinking about why don’t make Verify Developers in this developers should have a special (Edit) I have seen that many people say that bots maybe will be making places and making visits so I have a better idea

  1. You have to have an account with more than 2 years to apply
  2. You have to have a game with 10k or more visits for clothing designer they need more than 300 sells (not stalled ones) and with gfx have help with more than 5 games (obviously games with more than 10k visits)
  3. You have to have more than 1 year in DevFourm
  4. Developers will have a badge in their account (maybe make a group for only verify developers and then a game where only group members can enter and get the badge)
That would make a trustable developer and with that, they should,t wait for 3 - 7 days for paying.
  • Yes should be like this
  • No, I prefer how it was

Tell me if is the wrong category

I don’t think it should matter about the visits. That’s really not a good idea for small developers.

Yes but the problem is that if your small developer your trust will not be the same as a developer with 1 million visits.

there are many people out there who use free models or steal assets that have 1 million+ visits, so it might need a different method of verification

You can easily bot visits and it would hold smaller developers back like @IAmPinleon mentioned. And what about if they had a group game with tons of visits and no profile visits, would it still apply there?

If this system were to be put in place they would need a more secure and reliable method of doing so.

I think the best way to implement it is just to have a Developer Forum badge that is automatically added when you participate in the Dev Forum a certain amount of times. That’s been suggested to death though especially when the DevForum was by invitation and I’m sure they’re not going to do it.

The Devforum is not meant to be a status symbol/measure of trustworthiness. Plenty of bad actors have gotten into the forum (and likely will continue to, especially if there are incentives to do so).

Oh for sure. I don’t like the idea to begin with, but I didn’t really want to share my views on it.

I don’t believe we should change this. Being a developer with 1M+ visits shouldn’t be a status symbol, rather a clarification that you’ve succeeded that should just be held to yourself. I feel like if this got added and the developer had joins on, the developer may be flooded with PMs or people following in-game when the developer just wants to play the game with their friends.

Only in your profile will be this chek mark (so it doesn’t make you uncomfortable)

Well, if it’s on your profile then people will probably figure out that “oh, he’s a verified developer, i’m gonna go ruin the fun for him in his game, spam his PMs, and follow him where-ever he goes!” and join the developer’s game and may do just that.

Sorry if this comes off as blunt but, this looks like a really bad way to mimic the functionality and idolization of a blue checkmark found on other social medias. I feel like with a platform with majority kids & teens, verifying who you are is not exactly needed. I think the “trustable developer” functionality is already implemented via the Official Model Maker badge via the site. Visits don’t show up unless the user clicks on the profile and scrolls down. Even then, visits are pretty worthless imo.
