Roblox should remove the 2000 Robux video upload fee, with creators wanting refunds for rejected uploads and lower costs.
As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to wait to have a lot of robux so I would like if it becomes free…
If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because it would eliminate a major barrier to creative expression and game promotion. Currently, the high fee forces developers to choose between investing in game assets or marketing materials, which limits our ability to showcase our work effectively. The current system creates several problems. Financial burden on new developers who haven’t yet earned substantial Robux from their games. Risk of losing investment when videos get rejected for minor technical issues. Reduced content quality as developers rush to avoid multiple upload attempts. Inequality between established and emerging creators who have different financial resources. Removing this fee would encourage more diverse content creation by lowering entry barriers. Improve game discoverability through increased video uploads. Support the creator economy by allowing developers to reinvest savings into better game features. Align with Roblox’s mission of empowering imagination and connecting people through play. Alternative solutions could include. Tiered pricing based on developer status or game popularity. Refund system for rejected uploads due to technical errors. Free monthly allowance of video uploads for active developers.
No, Roblox cannot just remove the video upload fee for 2 big reasons.
Reason one: Videos take up a lot of storage, roblox rents servers from AWS, or Amazon, this would probably increase rent price, and roblox is already losing money, not from “bad” updates as they genuinely cannot do much other than that, but they lose money on things like renting servers. There are around 11 billion roblox accounts, it doesn’t matter that they’re alts or banned they still have lots of data, games, audio, images, add to that, and videos will make roblox crash to the ground.
Reason two: Moderation, no fee means more to moderate, you can’t use AI it costs too much and is still too slow if every user creates a singular video, and human moderation is out of the question.
I understand the storage and moderation challenges. How about implementing a phased video upload system starting with verified creators, coupled with a cost-sharing model where creators contribute to storage expenses through optional Robux contributions?
How about this “Roblox should offer a one-time purchase option for 500,000 Robux that allows players to make unlimited video uploads without additional per-video fees alongside the 2,000 robux fee.”
