I completely agree. In fact, I think we should make it so Members can’t like or make posts either, since they are known to produce lots of bad topics and lower the quality of the entire forum. We should restrict the forums as much as possible!
but then the question is,
why make posts on a forum that is ID-required instead of just going to a discord server?
you guys can’t keep thinking ID-verification is the solution to everything. ID-verification is just as secure as just verifying your email.
Are Visitors liking this post…?
I don’t really have an opinion on this. Sure, it can be annoying when your notifications gets spammed, but this doesn’t automatically make all Visitors who like posts immediately get punished or something.
I would recommend to just turn off your notifications for likes in the first place. In your position, I wouldn’t think likes are very important, and would reserve my notifications for replies, since they require you to actually respond instead of just checking the number of likes you have on a post or reply daily.

Anyways… Isn’t most of the forum 'member’s? That’d be taking a step back, not a step forward. We have a system in place to report things, and, if you don’t like something don’t click on it. You can also block users or hide topics or whatever. I can show how if you’d like.
If visitors can’t have their likes, then members shouldn’t have their posts. Simple. Remember that Members are just Visitors that spent an hour or two browsing the devforums and got automatically ranked up, that’s all the difference between them. If we think that Visitors should not be allowed to engage with the website, then I see no reason why Members should be allowed to either.
Maybe you are unaware, but the Regular status on the forums has been unobtainable for years now.
'Member’s currently can be someone who spent an hour on the forums, or someone who has been here since 2020.
These are my current stats, but I know of many others who’ve been on the forums more than I who are still a ‘Member’.
And, I do think ‘Visitors’ should be able to engage with the website. At least, in it’s current capacity.
naw thas crazy bro. your argument is not valid dude.
Then your point doesn’t stand lol. You’re letting people abuse the like system, not trying to stop it. Also calling people out is extremely immature.
I dont wanna be rude or greedy but yes…
Anyways as someone who has stats like @2jammers Like bro Id trust my life with him cause of those stats so I think you should listen to him that visitors are just people who want to tell you that they like you I dont see the problem except for the fact that your hating compliments
i love visitors and they are cool i support visitor rights
uuuh i was bored sooo
sorry if i caused problems
wait what are you talking about? I think removing likes from visitors is a really bad idea, which is your idea? im confused on how that would be different from not seeing likes from visitors? I’m pretty sure your just trolling at this point because isn’t this a solution to your problem???
it doesnt really matter at all at the end of the day, i dont see whats the point of removing, more cons than pros
I somewhat agree with this, it will help with people not making alts to boost the status. But sadly:
“Some People Don’t Like Change, but You Need to Embrace Change If the Alternative Is Disaster” - Elon Musk
I’ve come back in support of this. I’ve had 3 of my posts get the same amount of likes, with most every person liking it being a visitor.
How did you get a custom background for the devforums? I am unable to get that
I do agree that visitors annoyingly like your posts
Just my own Discourse theme poorly ported to normal css and made a userstyle. It doesn’t work perfectly (the background has to scale full with, and other small general issues), but besides that it looks nice. It includes removing all sass functions (@if, @function, etc) and replacing them with normal code. Full width is a bit messed up on here but it works ok if you’re fine with glitches)
I don’t listen to people depending on stats, but rather, also does that person who liked 4 of my posts like me??? (user is @DexterAndDad315)
that is called “Abuse”, I was able to achieve that on my alt named imagebugtestforums and almost did the same behavior to myself (so I don’t get suspended)
also I don’t think that you can give yourself compliments, Using alt accounts to boost your likes is done by various members, and that is against the forum rules
No. They run out of likes within an hour.
I also find it ironic that many likes HERE are from visitors.
