Visitors shouldn't be able to like posts

Most of them are visitors liking the topic and every reply of the topic (you know there’s a daily like limit for everyone)

Maybe it could be somewhere in between. Visitors are only able to like one post per topic.

It would prevent like spam by quite a bit.

Visitors are humans too! Let em like our post :muscle:

ps: if you are looking at your stats all the time clearly your grinding for some type of stats cause I really don’t see a need for you to be looking at your stats every time something changes. And do you really need to see who liked your post? Like what are you gonna do try and contact then to give them a 10 page questioner on why they liked it? No you take the like smile a bit then move along with your day.

do you want visitors to go to your topic, then like every reply of your topic??? (it mainly happens in #updates #development-discussion and #resources:community-resources from experience), They can also be alt accounts, and members use visitor accounts to boost their stats, I have proof

My Friend @Al9baraa12 (who is now suspended for a year) made an alt account named @ALbaraa_MAKX and liked many posts of his main account, which ended up getting his main suspended for a day

This is what I got in a private message

the topic and every reply liking proof is here

many of them managed to like ~50 posts in a hour

All four of these users are visitors.

For context, your post has only 8 likes by members, and 10 are visitors. We can agree that visitors do not have very valuable likes and they do clutter notifications.

there is a very quick solution to your “problem” in my opinion  your problem is with you getting notifications when visitors like your post right??
you could advocate for a feature where you can choose who you get notifications from, like for example"get notifications when visitors like your post" or “get notifications when members like your post” button and a "and a get notifications when regulars like your post button  there’s no need to remove likes from visitors imo?

Not to mention, I see 50 likes on the very first post or reply on the top discussions and most of them are visitors. I’m assuming they are just spam liking the first reply they see then go to a different topic. While replies closer to the bottom of the topic have less likes compared to the top.

I completely agree. In fact, I think we should make it so Members can’t like or make posts either, since they are known to produce lots of bad topics and lower the quality of the entire forum. We should restrict the forums as much as possible!

but then the question is,

why make posts on a forum that is ID-required instead of just going to a discord server?

you guys can’t keep thinking ID-verification is the solution to everything. ID-verification is just as secure as just verifying your email.

Are Visitors liking this post…?

I don’t really have an opinion on this. Sure, it can be annoying when your notifications gets spammed, but this doesn’t automatically make all Visitors who like posts immediately get punished or something.

I would recommend to just turn off your notifications for likes in the first place. In your position, I wouldn’t think likes are very important, and would reserve my notifications for replies, since they require you to actually respond instead of just checking the number of likes you have on a post or reply daily.

And…

‘Some people are bad so let’s ruin it for everyone.’

Anyways… Isn’t most of the forum 'member’s? That’d be taking a step back, not a step forward. We have a system in place to report things, and, if you don’t like something don’t click on it. You can also block users or hide topics or whatever. I can show how if you’d like.

If visitors can’t have their likes, then members shouldn’t have their posts. Simple. Remember that Members are just Visitors that spent an hour or two browsing the devforums and got automatically ranked up, that’s all the difference between them. If we think that Visitors should not be allowed to engage with the website, then I see no reason why Members should be allowed to either.

Maybe you are unaware, but the Regular status on the forums has been unobtainable for years now.

'Member’s currently can be someone who spent an hour on the forums, or someone who has been here since 2020.

These are my current stats, but I know of many others who’ve been on the forums more than I who are still a ‘Member’.

And, I do think ‘Visitors’ should be able to engage with the website. At least, in it’s current capacity.

Then your point doesn’t stand lol. You’re letting people abuse the like system, not trying to stop it. Also calling people out is extremely immature.

wait what are you talking about? I think removing likes from visitors is a really bad idea, which is your idea? im confused on how that would be different from not seeing likes from visitors? I’m pretty sure your just trolling at this point because isn’t this a solution to your problem???
