(This post is somewhat related to Noble_Draconian’s Voice chat moderation : Moderation reason needs to be given when banned from voice chat post, but this just goes more in depth about abusing the report system)
Recently, an influx of unfair and confusing bans has been spiraling across many peoples accounts, with the major cause being tied to voice-chat indicated “bullying or harassment”, though for many, it came off as strange due to little to no offensive material being provided for the reason of the ban. Voice-chat moderation these recent days has been very lacking in effort and balance, the use of voice-chat has been extremely risky due to the major lack of reason being put into a majority of the bans being caused by voice-chat itself.
Multiple users and youtubers have gotten moderated through this system recently, with most of them claiming that they were falsely reported and did not do anything wrong, even though the ban says otherwise.
These false reports can lead to:
- The account’s voice chat being revoked for a period of time
- The account gets a warning
- The account gets banned for a day (or multiple days)
- The account gets deleted
What abusing the system as a joke does
Users can use this report system as a joke that can get players banned. For context, a user can falsely report someone’s sentences that contain a simple curse word not directed towards anyone as harassment or another false reason, and forward it to the report system. Then the report system would moderate the user in one of the results above.
Chances are likely the new AI moderation that Roblox is wanting to implement is to blame for these unfair bans, being thought that the feature was snuck in to test its validity but unfortunately is the reason why many people have been struck with bans more harsher than usual because of its flaws.
It’s unknown whether if the AI moderation itself detects words or a certain string of words that are filtered or/and against TOS or if a player has to manually report you for the AI to do its job, either way if AI is to cause for these newer recent rise of bans, then it goes to show that the new update requires MAJOR work and effort before being released to the public this early.
