Voice chat not working

Hi,

When I try to use voice chat on my tablet, it does not work whatsoever. I can still hear other people but they cannot hear me. The microphone on my head stays grey whenever I try to speak. I think the main issue is the fact that when I go to my settings to see my input device, it is the same as my output device and my output device is my output device as it should be. I cant seem to change the input device though so I am not sure how I could fix this.

Hey! I believe the reason for your VC not to work is due to your tablet. You tablet simply does not have an input device. In order to aquire an input device you can buy a headset, a microphone or another remote device to connect to the tablet.
Good luck!

My tablet does indeed have an input device; I tested a voice recorder and also another game, fortnite, and they both worked perfectly fine.

My tablet is the Galaxy Tab S9 Plus as well so I believe a tablet like that must definitely have a microphone.

Alright, additional reasons might be that it was a connection error. I remember to have similar issues whenever Roblox just wasn’t perfectly connecting to my microphone. I don’t know the exact reason why it was happening, but it was more likely a rare bug accuring mainly in servers of small age.
Other then that make sure you gave Roblox permission to use you microphone

I have given roblox access to my microphone and I have also tried to reinstall roblox yet it still doesnt work. By the other point, did you mean i should join server that is older?

Hey! This is a frequent issue in the VC community. You should try re-installing ROBLOX. Also be sure that ROBLOX has access to your microphone! :relieved:

You should maybe try it out. In general, voice chat is a very performance requiring feature, because your voice has to be captured, send to the server, (as of lately) moderated and finally played in the server. In some cases, if a server is being overloaded by players it can indeed happen that recently created servers with a rapid “joinspeed” can make it problemtic.
Oh and another thing to remember!! If a server has more then 30 players with enabled VC, the server will prevent EVERYONE from using it straight up. That’s why whenever you create a VC only place, you should never make the server size bigger then 30.

I tried both of these before but it did not work.

Oh that is wierd because I attempted this in the game Mic Up and the server size is 50 yet people can speak perfectly fine.

Remember! It’s not the server size, it’s the amount of people!! If the amount of people is higher then 30 it will stop voice chat.

Also, how do you think i would go about finding an old server?

Ohh ok I misread what you had said.

By this did you mean my device has to be good?

No, not. Your client “only” hast to record and send for the server.

You could try joining servers with many players, since they usually are older.
You could try getting some browser extensions that are able to track the ages of servers.

Maybe cause you don’t know where the new UI got the VC button? You have to press the “block” button and there you will find the mic and the cam!
