op is providing something that has similar function to your resource
op’s resource is free
and your response is to discredit op
and there’s no great reason either, “he uses billboards, not real volumetric lighting” yea but the result is similar, so it’s not a good point

that’s not very nice man

I talked to them in private, their system is more than just volumetric fog and in my opinion is worth the price. Due to the previous demo map that was made by Roblox having beams to imitate volumetric light they thought my system was just adding beams. It was a mistake on both of our parts.

Can’t create volumetrics with Luau as of now.
Billboard method is alright, but you need to optimize it yourself.
For faux volumetrics I suggest using either particles or beams.

The reason voxel uses billboard gui’s is to make future lighting work with it, lessermage was talking about how the old testplace (made by Roblox) had a beam in it that imitated volumetric lighting, after wards I changed the testplace to give a better representation of the system.

Even if you explained how this module functioned to me in monkey terms i still wouldn’t understand it lol

Pretty neat, love it. Easy to use and set up.
Good job!

I understand fully, as beams are incredibly laggy and Roblox removed particle shadows.
But, Billboard GUI is almost as laggy as beams are, so there is almost no difference.

I won’t stop you from doing what you enjoy, though. Just thought to point that out.
