I recently was hit up from a person asking to purchase one of my games. He hit me up on discord and told me that he was interested in buying my game for ~30k robux.
He told me that he needed to buy the gamepass for the game file from 3 different passes because of different accounts holding robux, seemed a little suspicious at first but I didn’t think much of it.
After that he told me he actually bought the robux on the account with real money from a third-party source, which is against TOS. I’m now in the possession of robux via a group and I’m not sure what to do next. The robux are still pending but I don’t want to be in possession of “illegal” robux or get banned
Okay, I contacted Roblox support about the issue as well just to be safe. I’ll keep you updated. Do you think it’s morally fine if I don’t go through with the deal as of now and just wait for the response from support?
Roblox will remove the Robux if it was truly stolen or resold.
It’s unlikely that it is “stolen.” It is probably just bought offsite from those who want to cash out their limiteds.
It is a valid investment and payoff but it is against the Roblox ToS, wouldn’t talk about ethics but more about pragmatism. Here’s what you’ll do. Give him the game only if the Robux arrives in your account, not before, not during the moderation.
Ah, I understand. I will go through with giving him the game file (that’s the method we settled on) Even though I am in possession of the robux that could’ve been potentially bought off of a third party site, do I still suffer the risk of ban or consequence?
Yeah, I wasn’t 100% if they were stolen or not. Just assumed something fishy was going on. As Jevangelise said, they were probably just used to sell robux off of a third party site. Just going to wait for moderation to determine if the robux make it to my group, if they do, I’ll continue with the transaction and give him the game as promised.
You will not be banned if the Robux arrives in your account. Even if it is against the ToS and the moderators do find out, you will not be banned as the receiver. Even the seller can only be banned for up to 7 days, proving they are real accounts and not bot accounts.
If you OWN the Robux now (not seeing the Robux pending), you can be sure that you will not be banned. You should mark this topic as answered so it doesn’t receive more exposure, some people may report you out of jealousy. You did nothing wrong. You earned honest money. The money isn’t dirty or evil, it’s just slight tax evasion. Agreed it is immoral if you’re PSX owners, but most small devs simply cannot afford the normal Robux rates.
