Watercalm Showcase

:coefficients: Hello there fellow devs and players!

I wanted to share with you this showcase I made and see if you like it.

Please, let me know what you think about the game and give me some overall feedback about what aspects I could improve about it. Thank you!

Edit: So I have just changed up and added a lot of stuff, Iā€™ll leave the old pictures and the new ones below so you can see the difference and judge them.

Before the feedback update (old pictures)

After the feedback update (new images)

About the game

This is my new showcase that features mountains, caverns and lots of waterfalls. (+some hidden easter eggsā€¦)

I made everything on the game by myself, including building, scripting and GUI design.(excluding textures and assets made by Roblox) Mainly used F3X Building Tools plus the Built-in Studio Terrain Tools and blender for making some new meshes for the game.

Sadly, It took longer than I wanted to complete the entire game (about two months), since I couldnā€™t focus entirely on the development. :disappointed:
(Is it wrong to take this long? (Training on speedbuilds after this) )

Since this is the final release of the game, the next updates will just include minor changes on the map and some small fixes. :hammer_and_wrench: :gear:

Donā€™t forget to leave a like on the game if you like it.
Thank you for reading my post!! :happy1: :happy1:

Note: This is the first showcase I ever made.

Have a nice day!

The bright lighting and realism added to scene looks interesting otherwise the ā€œsun raysā€ are taking over the image in the first image however I decided to check and out and was impressed with the lighting and overall terrain elevation.

Iā€™m not sure if your going for a more relaxing - calm showcase if so, I would remove the audio since it doesnā€™t seem to the match with the theme. But it could be kept itā€™s not really a big problem.

As looking around the area you should try including rocks on the side of the waterfall so it has something to come out from waterfalls arenā€™t randomly placed in random spots however you developed a nice theme I assume players would have fun collecting- doing quests with other players.

Iā€™d recommend putting vegetation variety of trees into your showcase at the start loving the use of lighting.

It looks really nice, But I would add some more particles so it looks more, blur. Also you should add some details to the top of the water fall since. There isnā€™t much details there.

Hello and thanks for your response

I originally thought about adding more relaxed music but changed my mind. Might also change it in the future.

Oh, I just realized what you meant here, Iā€™ll kinda change up a bit the terrain and add more detail to fix that.

Iā€™m planning make colorful flowers and some other plants on blender to make the surface more interesting.

Iā€™ll find out if changing up the particle rate actually looks nice. If it does not look very well, then I might rework most or the entire particle effect properties.

Thanks for your feedback!

This looks very good. You have done a good job, but turn the lighting down a bit.

I also might lower a bit the sunrays and make some lighting adjustments.

Once again, thanks for your comments!

Hey there, back again. :coefficients:

I have just finished fixing stuff, thanks to the feedback all of you have sent me.

It took so long (sorry) but Itā€™s finally improved.

(After 35 days lol, I really need to learn how to speedrun)

Updated content:

Iā€™ve left the new images up on the original post so that you can compare the result.

Feedback response and changes

I just made the sun rays less agressive and changed the blur a bit.
Now I donā€™t think I will change the effects at all after this changeā€¦ :bulb: :hammer_and_wrench:

Now Iā€™ve made plenty of flowers, mushrooms and weird plants on blender and two more varieties of trees on studio. I have placed trees and flowers on the start as you suggested and lots of trees near the waterfalls. :evergreen_tree: :deciduous_tree: :rose: :hibiscus: :blossom: :mushroom:

Also, I have made two cabins and a small dock next to the sea. :rowing_man: :house:

I have just changed the rocks around the waterfalls so that the rocks work as ā€œtracksā€ for the waterfall, giving a more natural shape. :railway_track: :ocean:

I have raised the particle rate highly for every area with particles without taking away too much visibility from the playerā€™s screen. (Canā€™t be seen at the images)

I will just stick to keep the game with no music at all for now. :speaker: :no_entry_sign:

My final conclusion

Sure, It was nice and fun to make this showcase, but the players neither know what to do in-game or donā€™t even know whatā€™s the point of the game.

Iā€™d guess the environment of the game now feels complete. :white_check_mark:

I think I could have done this faster, but I still donā€™t know how. Now I will just stick to making tiny builds and small games for now on, maybe Itā€™s the best practice to become faster over time. Well, I donā€™t want to become YandereDevā€¦

Note: No, I did not take longer due to a messy workspace, I have everything carefully oraganized by categories in folders. :open_file_folder: :file_folder:

I really appreciate all your reactions, feedback and support you all have sent me so that I could make improvements to my game. Thank you. :yum:

Please, let me know if I could improve anything for the next time I make a showcase or build anything, and thank you all for your ideas and feedback! :hammer_and_pick:

Looks really nice!!! Maybe lower the SunRay. :))

Do you mean about the new screenshots or the old ones??

I thought Iā€™ve had already lowered the sun rays effectā€¦
Maybe this has something to do with the color correction effect Iā€™m usingā€¦

But anyway, thanks!

Sorry for the confusion, I ment the old ones. New ones look amazing!

Good to know. :slightly_smiling_face: :grinning:

I have changed the description to make it somewhat a bit more clear. :coefficients: :memo:

Thanks! Iā€™m using screenshots taken from studio at the max quality level. :camera_flash: :sun_behind_small_cloud:

(With my dead FPS that I get when Iā€™m taking screenshots)
