Weapon animation testrun

This is basically my first animation since 2020! I hope you guys enjoy it. There are still a couple of inaccuracies that I may or may not fix. There’s a first person and third person view.

Notice: I’m still refining these animations so expect to see some updates.

Shooting movement is just going up and down, you should also add movement on the left and right, idk if i explained correctly, and also it looks weird holding a revolver whit both hands.

Well, the shooting movement is supposed to be something like that, and the 2nd part is the way people hold revolvers IRL. Thanks for your feedback though.

Yeah but the shooting movement dosen’t seem natural

I think what he means is in 3rd person it looks very stiff. When a gun is fired, that recoil should not only make your hands move up and back, but they will sway and you might twist them a little.

Yeah I tried refining it abit. As said, I’m unfortunately an amateur animator.

Ah, I see. I’m unfortunately not capable of doing that quite yet. Sorry!

Mb, I don’t really know how to replicate the IRL shooting feel.

It feels very robotic try using things like in out and different tweening styles.

Just takes practice, you’ll get there!

Cool start! Not sure if you plan to use these in an actual game, but one piece of advice I’d give from a gameplay POV is that in the first person, players will not like having their camera/perspective moved during the reload animation. Losing control of the direction of the camera can completely interfere with aiming, moving, etc. and is really frustrating.

That being said, I can’t tell if you were just moving the camera with your mouse. If that is the case than you’re all good! Hope you continue to make more work

Thanks! I’ll try to improve on my new animations later.

I hope so! I’m still a mediocre animator since I mostly do modelling and not animation.

Could you elaborate on this for me? I’m not quite sure I understand.

maybe using in out feature one the animator or using a different tween
here some reference
Using the Animation Editor (roblox.com)
(The part about easing)

Shooting is a bit funky, but I like the reloading. Gun looks really nice, too.

Well, you see, I… use blender so I don’t know how to do that. I also don’t have a proper R6 rig so I had to combine an R15 rig into a proto-R6 rig. I do know some of the problems that I have with animating, however.

Which one? The refined version that I posted in the comments or the original version?
