I ran across a post by Freaked on IronNoob, and he displayed some really cool concepts of how the ROBLOX site could be revamped. I think the colors could be changed a bit, but just looking at this makes me really excited, haha.
What do you guys think of this?

This isn’t a metro design, it is called flat.
I must say that I have seen it before, the colors are alright. But the red at the header is quite bright, and the green colors that the designer has picked are also out of balance. Other then that, it is a great piece of work.

Don’t stare yourself blind on prettiness. The current UI has a lot of functionality in it, while this one is missing a lot.
For example the clans look quite messy, I’m not sure if this is just the communication part, but it misses a shout function, group store, members/ranks,and private server. Oh, and not unimportant, group admin too. But if it is just the communication part, I don’t want to get all the messages from a group in my inbox as super and power clans tend to have a very active wall…
Collaborations and parties are a great idea though, and this style looks a lot more interesting and in certain ways aesthetically better than the current style.

There’d probably an overview of the group wall at your homepage along with a page for each group which has shouts, ranks and all that stuff.
I love the look of that screenshot! I think it would be pretty cool to have a theme like that.
That looks more like a mobile thing. I do agree the site needs to be revamped.

I liked the old themes more. The feeling they had felt… More “Open” and “Free”
Like everything was in your grasp, but like everyone is “Outside” in terms of setting. Posting a comment or publishing meant publishing it to the WORLD.
You could go out and explore the world anytime you felt. It wasn’t on a monitor in your hand or anything, as you sat indoors. You actually went out and checked it out.
This theme feels the opposite of that. Indoors, very “closed off, cafe” feeling. Like you’re only limited to your artificial “Friends” and “Profile stats”. Like it’s a machine that’s keeping you in a box and dispensing information from “outside” into your room.
Like it’s night time or something.
Looks very clean, to be honest. Open, as has been said, too.
I don’t know what drugs Aurarus is on. There is literally no difference in feeling, the functionality is nearly the same if not expanded. If anything, we’re getting more and more “free” than before. You’re confusing “simple” with “open”.

Just to make myself clear, I’m talking about the THEME and not exactly the UI.
This:
Feels more open, active, and “alive” TO ME than
This:
Which feels quiet, closed off, and too… Well… This theme would be good for a bank, or something like a hospital. It doesn’t really feel like “There’s stuff to be made, and stuff to be done!”

Can be quite easily solved by putting the columns in different boxes and putting a background picture of a nice Roblox level behind them. Well, I think it’s that easy really…

Yep.
But if there are “Sky” backgrounds, they can’t scroll along with your screen. They have to have some depth.
And they should come with alternate themes; easily switch-able.
I actually like that new theme, hopefully it will come soon although I’m not sure how other users will react just because some people don’t like change.
That actually looks really amazing. ROBLOX would be due for an update, and a minimalistic approach is definitely the way to go. Everything looks so much more organized. And for those saying there is functionality missing- there isn’t. Part of making a minimalistic website design is incorporating the functionality in a minimalistic and intuitive way, and that is definitely done here.
