Weird Character That Crashes The Script Editor

Basically, I was looking around in my friend’s game, and I found out that a script in his game had a malicious require in it. But what I noticed was that a bunch of weird characters were near them, and when I tried to delete these characters, it kicked me out with the following message: Server received illegal operation.

Now I don’t know why that is. but I fear that it might cause major issues in Roblox Studio itself. The character is “�”, the replacement character.

I am curious as to why this happens, and I want to find more information about this.

Please tell me if you found any possible solution or explanation about why this happens.

Have you tried deleting the script itself, not the syntax?

If you need to use the rest of the script for whatever reason and want to edit the script,

right click → Save To File → open that file in notepad and edit away
