Hi guys, me and my friends are creating a game but we ran into a little problem. Whenever playing the game, we get some sort of lag (kinda) thing. It’s more noticeable if you have many tabs or windows open or if you have an old computer.
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knows what’s causing it?
It does have a big map, but I’ve tried shortening it, adding fog, and spreading out the parts as much as possible.
Here’s what I’ve tried:
-Nothing printing in the dev console
-I moved 10 levels into a second place
-I added fog
-I spread out the levels
-I removed some scripts I thought might be causing it
-I’ve turned off can-collide for unnecessary parts
-I turned off shadows
-I checked to make sure there were no duplicate items
I added a video used by the default roblox recording system.
As I said, it doesn’t look like lag. So what do I do?
It could be anything, you can press F9 while running the game and check the ServerJobs tab for any section that has the “Steps per sec” number lower than most.
I suggest also checking the MicroProfiler, ServerStats and Scripts tab. Anything out of the ordinary with a high number under these tabs would most likely give you an idea to what is causing the problem.
If everything seems normal, it’s probably your computer at that point. (If none of your friends experience this problem as well)
In “Server Stats” under Avg Ping. I’m getting around 100 to 140
I’m not saying it’s only my computer. My friends have had worse experience and people are frequently leaving the game after a few levels because it’s unplayable. There are a few people who don’t experience it, but for the most part it’s everybody.
