I was just wondering, cause you know how most obby games are just copies and some are casual, but what if they were advanced? For example, they had walk animations, you script items, you level up each time, you know. Stuff like that.
Just make some unique jumps, courses, and obstacle. For example in JTOH, there’s a rope sliding part (I don’t know exactly what it is called). Flood escape 2, having to press a button and return just to advance. You could improve whatever you want so your obby isn’t just spacebar spamming course.
Not related to the physical form of an obby, but try messing with the Roblox physics and character movement. I think this is most important of all to make an obby that doesn’t feel “samey”. Creating various moves the player can input and changing the way they run and jump and offer a new obby experience compared to Roblox’s default character movement which isn’t even very well suited for an obby type game.
Definatley, going above and beyond, and not making a low poly. Maybe introduce a new style, but make the scripting work. Most obby’s the scripting, won’t work.
Try to make it look pretty adventurous, because an obby is not just an obstacle course, its like an adventure, a story you’re presenting.
Hope this helps!!
A lot of the actually fun obbies I’ve played over the years had some sort of challenge behind it, such as “complete the obby with (x) amount of lives” or something like that.
Incorporating something like that into a genre which is often too easy will most likely cause players to be more engaged with the game as it gives them something to work towards rather than spending hours upon hours spamming spacebar and WASD just to get to a tiny winners circle with a bunch of broken gear
Be original. Don’t have a pointless obby, but tell a story. Also add cool things like moving parts, falling things, and more live dodging instead of just a few jumps. Also add a boss battle, because those always are fun.
