I am currently working on a Placement Module for fun, and I want to add some more ideas to my placement module to make it something I am happy with; however, I don’t really know what else to add to it.
What I have completed:
Able to place desired model down
Change grid increment in studs.
change rotation increment
smooth placement tween
able to turn collisions on
able to choose if want to be able to place anywhere or only on placement area
determins boundaries of grid no matter the position or size of the grid
What im working on
Mobile support
Undo / Redo placement
Select the object and choose to delete it or move it
Preview:
Grid 1 stud; rotational 15 increments; smooth placement; ignore other models; collsion check; locked to grid
Grid 0(free); rotational 90 increments; smooth placement off; no collision check; place anywhere
Hey, I know I’m a little late on this topic, but would you consider open sourcing this placement system? It’d help me out a lot if you did, but I do understand if you don’t want to.
If you still want more ideas for it I would suggest adding a way to raise and lower the item, like you can do in Theme Park Tycoon 2.
hey thanks for the suggestion. I stopped working on this project so I will not be adding onto it. I would open source; however, I never open source before so I do not know how. thanks If you can tell me how to open source, then I will
In order to open source it you can make the place you are developing it in uncopylocked, publish it as a model/plugin, or release the source code on github. Then you can also create a community resources topic if you want to help it be noticed more.
