What Are the Current Trends in Roblox for 2025? Is Parkour Still Necessary?

Hello Roblox developers!

As we approach 2025, the Roblox platform continues to evolve with new trends and gameplay mechanics taking center stage. One of the classic gameplay styles that has remained popular over the years is parkour/obby mechanics. But is parkour still as relevant and necessary in 2025 as it was in previous years?

As we look ahead, do you think parkour games are still necessary or relevant in 2025? Should developers continue to rely on them, or is it time to explore new gameplay trends?

Feel free to share your thoughts, ideas, or examples of how you’re adapting to the ever-changing Roblox landscape! Let’s keep the discussion going and help shape the future of Roblox development! :rocket:

I kinda feel that obbies will get forgotten eventually in the platform, I’m assuming around 5 years’ time as games continue to improve their quality both in visuals and content.

obbies is like a balance beam between fun and difficulty, as shown in games like Mega Fun Obby and Tower of Hell, both made for people of different difficulties. I do see them slowly fall off the charts as years pass, making them almost irrelevant soon.

One flaw i think obbies always have is its ability to make player’s rage no matter what, and I don’t think that can be changed.

I agree with @futureguy13 in that obby games are slowly declining in popularity and slipping off the charts. However, I believe that parkour is still very relevant and is in fact gaining further popularity. Personally, I just love the mechanics of these new gen games such as Parkour, Untitled Tag Game, Evade, etc. While the last two aren’t parkour games, in my eyes the future of Roblox parkour are these advanced movement systems with high speed gameplay. Running 4x faster than humanly possible, vaulting and climbing obstacles at these speeds, and jumping and launching yourself in unique ways (such as pressure flinging in UTG) at impossible speeds just has that thrill to it.

I guess one more thing to add onto my list is that the communities will definitely get smaller. It may eventually reduce to the JTOH (Jukes Towers Of Hell) and Tiered Obbies communities.

These communities dedicare themselves to clearing the hardest obbies in all of Roblox, most of which are unknown by the majority of the active players even dating back to when Roblox was first released.

With small communities like these, I do doubt that obbies will make a comeback in popularity, but it will definitely survive for the time being.
