What are the Limits of Facial Animation

So I was exploring ideas for a horror game, and then I remembered facial animation existed now. I’ve seen what the G-Mod facial animator was capable of, so I thought the Roblox one may be an easy way to create deformed looking monsters. I tried it out with the rig Roblox provided, but it seems to be limited to only a small amount of deformation in each point of the face.

Since I don’t know a lot about the subject, I was wondering whether or not someone with a bit more experience could help me answer this without needing me to go through a ton of work for something that may or may not work. So in the end, my main question is:

Do custom rigged faces have limits to how much you can deform them, and if so, what are they (and what are some ways you can possibly bypass it?)

TL;DR: Wondering if the Roblox Facial Animator has the same capabilities as the G-Mod animator in terms of deformation of faces.
