So after a while of not working on something, I decided to return to an old project. I haven’t been as productive as I would have liked to have been, but It’s taking shape! You might remember an earlier post regarding the same project, a lot of work has gone into it since from both front-end and back-end.
So yeah, the first release of this will be based on Tatooine. I have plans to expand this using Universes, I’m thinking something along the lines of Naboo for the next one. The idea isn’t fully fleshed out yet, but the main points are to be able to gather resources, create items, create structures & vehicles. There’s also the element of survival, which means there’s hunger and thirst, along with NPC’s and other players with weapons.
I don’t want to list the entire games assets, but here are a few
Firespray 31-Class Patrol and Attack Craft (Which is famous for being piloted by Jango and Boba Fett), TIE Fighter, TIE Fighter Interceptor Variant, X-Wing, AT-AT (my favourite), X-34 Landspeeder (Famous for the scene with Luke and Obi-Wan saying “These are not the droids you are looking for”) and many more planned.
There’s a vast array of items, which are available in your inventory should you acquire them. Including Weapons, Misc, Apparel, Aid. Some of the weapons include the E-11 Blaster used by Stormtroopers, and Han Solo’s blaster.
Currently there’s one major city with another one underway around half completion. I plan to add one or two more smaller ones, and then a large majority of even smaller ones. These places have various different buildings such as shops, cafe’s and government/local authority buildings like police, air traffic, Imperial Bases and so on. Players can purchase housing and customhouse it to their liking, and that will be there permanently (or until rent runs out) for every server, so there will be a limited amount and you can tell your friends “Hey, my house is at X location near the star port, check it out sometime” things like that
There are a bunch of craft-able items that you can place down, such as flora farms and drills. This will expand to many hundreds of other items as development continues like shield barriers or lights.
Drills, farms and generators like Water Vaporators (iconic on Tatooine) generate resources depending on their availability, for example a drill will only mine what is underneath it. The algorithm for determining if there IS something in the ground is controlled via Trello which makes it really easy for us to balance the game or create sudden shortages of items, for example a drought or a gold crisis (ha)
Custom chat GUI, Notifications, Tutorials (Via notifications, nice and simple), Vehicle Combat, Player Combat, Crafting, Selling, Buying, Custom Playerlist, Compass GUI, NPC Interaction (Missions!), NPCs, NPC wildlife (eat them or ride on them), Dynamic Weather (controlled by a bot on Trello), Procedural resource gathering, Construction, Custom Characters (Humans, Twi-Lek, Chiss, Zabrak, etc), Data Persistent, Community orientated (there is a main group (It’s the empire, sorry rebels…) who will go here which anyone can join up to and participate in community events)
