The purpose of this combat system is to create a game where combat takes actual skill and timing rather than a bunch of spam. It should be noticed how one or two hits could mean death. It’s fair because the player knows when the attack is coming by the slow arm raise. But I didn’t want to make it too easy, so the enemy will keep turning towards you until the swing down animation starts. Once it swings down, it won’t persistently turn.
I plan to add a few more things to the prototype. For example, if the enemy misses, it might immediately throw a follow up horizontal slash. If it hits, it might do a combo attack. If you get to close or pressure it with a lot of close range attacks, it might back up while swinging, etc.
If anyone has any ideas, comments or concerns, please let me know!
I’m trying to create new creatures for an building showcase. Reverting back to a nostalgic feeling, rather than a realistic.
I’ve got a lot to do, with barely any spare time.
