I finished remaking Santa’s sleigh for the Christmas Rush remake. (The old sleigh is in a few pictures to show how much it changed)

Spacek is actually works on something for once.

I am making a free-roam train game where players deliver cargo for money. They can purchase new rolling stock (locomotives and wagons) to haul bigger loads and make more money, kind of like a roblox tycoon.

Griefing is a big problem in free-roam train games. Griefers can uncouple rolling stock, delete rolling stock, stand in front of trains to derail them, and move switches underneath trains to derail them.

For my upcoming game, I have worked on compartmentalizing things so these modes of griefing are not possible.

This video demonstrates the spawning system and anti-grief features:

(the click button will be upgraded to a menu)

  • Spawning system places new rolling stock in the first open position on the spawn track
  • Spawning system organizes rolling stock based only on owner’s rolling stock
  • Rolling stock owned by different owners pass through each other
  • Switches are local and only react to owner and owner’s rolling stock
  • Couplers only work for owner and on owner’s rolling stock

No game on Roblox has yet to feature the ability to couple rolling stock, local junctions, and trains that pass through each other.

It isn’t demonstrated in the video, but players also have the ability to team up and form “crews” that remove the compartmentalization. When players form a crew,

  • Rolling stock will collide with rolling stock owned by other crew members
  • Rolling stock will couple with rolling stock owned by other crew members
  • Crew members can throw switches for other crew members
  • Crew members can manipulate the couplers of rolling stock owned by other crew members
  • Crew members can delete rolling stock owned by other crew members

Oh hey, i tried making something like that about a year ago.

Kinda got derailed (heh) by other projects though…

Been messing with neon “vaporwave”-ish title scenes for a few months ago. First one was inspired by the background to Beat Saber, second one a generic vaporwave theme (you may have seen on the new voxel lighting thread). Just finished a sort of “beta”/first version of my third one. What do you guys think?

(Also using voxel lighting, I think this mode looks incredibly good for the style I’m going for. Does a much better job at colors and neon brightness.)

Modeled and textured a low poly stylized skull for fun, I should’ve sculpted and retopologized in retrospect but I’m pretty proud of it.
