What can i improve to this orb?

Hello. I made this orb for my game and i was wondering if i could make it better. This is also my first vfx so im not experienced. Thank you for the feedback!

Orb:

  • Create Various Lighting conditions that it can b e in and look at how it reads in those conditions
  • Establish a Core shaping for your effect ( consider that what your effect should read as)
    • Have a primary highlight effect that in some way supports your main shape but does not overwhelm your reading shape of the effect itself
      • Have a 3rd “Reactive Highlight” these are even less face forward as the prior 2 “layers” and would be like after image effect or, particles to die off over time.

Watch your color use, as it stands that’s a whole lot of green, and looks pukish? Is it meant to be like a gas fartish kind of thing? You have electricity within it, so likely you want it to be more like energy reading. Remember that things that are energy gend to read with less pillowy shaping in the colors. I get that your trying to kind of display energy aura that is chaotic in nature, but if that is the case less is more here. A little goes a longer way.

Since I can not see your heiarchy of the effect I will say this, you will likely need to very heavily consider figuring out how to use the least amount of emissions and effect elements to achieve the effect you are doing for performance reasons.

Also, roblox is VERY VERY quick to throttle your emissions on particles, so remember more emitters with less number of particle emissions layering is more reseliant to that throttling then 1 emitter that has a very high emission setup.

This is a very deep and long topic, VFX are difficult for many reasons, and my biggest advice to you is to focus on effects that read cleanly first, and really focus on optimization in your composition. It wont matter if it looks amazing, if it crashes the game.
