What could I do to make one of these VFX better?

Hello everyone, I’ve partnered with a person who made vfx to make something called “Gravity Domain” which is an ability that stuns players or enemies to the ground.

But he made me script this ability using placeholder effects because he want
s to protect his textures, while he uses the same thing but with the REAL vfx.

To me, although the first one is more simple, something feels off with the second one. I just can’t put my finger on it.

Which do you think is better/cleaner? and what could I do to make it better.
