What development type should I choose?

Hello developers, I’m a newer developer and I can’t decide on what I should do.
Should I become a builder, scripter etc.
Was wondering if any of you could help;
My interests are:
Math, Art, Creating new things, and smaller type things.(1 day kinda things because I can’t stay focused on something for more then a day)

I know this isn’t alot of more info, if you have more questions just comment.

Try a bit of everything and see what you like best I’d say

Hello.

I would love to help you. Next time don’t post here, as this has nothing to do with a game.

Here is my questions:

  1. Are you good at coding?
  2. Are you good at like GFX?
  3. What type of art do you do?
  4. What type of math do you like? Do you like Geometry, have you done a geometry class?
  5. Can you provide more info as to what hobbies maybe you do, also provide what you want to accomplish while developing on Roblox?

If you could answer ALL of these it would be helpful.

Kind Regards

I would really like to start commissions, I also take a geometry course and I’m interested in art on procreate and photoshop.

What do you really want to be what would you see yourself best as in the future: Building , scripting and gfx also there is no better or worser on what you should be like scripting can make your game function and work , Building is making 3D objects for your game and Ui is your user interface which is a 2D design on a person screen in a game these are what they mostly do in your game… also its not hard to find a good development type its just what you enjoy.

Do what will make you happy, and something that won’t feel like a chore.

Ok, I have the right thing for you!

Because you like math, my first thought was scripter. But then you said you prefer one day projects. Next was art, you can be an artist! Because you also like creating new things and you can’t stay focused, game design would also be good because getting distracted is the main source of inspiration around here.

Here’s what I think you’d like based on the provided information:

Building:
Ok, like you said, you take a geometry course, however, that might not be enough, like you said:

Building is something that takes a long time and lots of patients. It also requires a lot of work and skill, like I said, geometry might help with this but also maybe not.

Scripting:
Ok, math could really help with this because it’s very important in scripting. Again though, this is more of a long time project with writing, then checking for bugs, then writing more, then rechecking, then more after that. I don’t have much experience with scripting but there’s a chance I’m right about this.

Art:
Ok, this one is perfect for you. Your good at art, you like to do quick commissions, you use procreate and photoshop already. Your basically made for this job!

Game Design:
Ok, this one is pretty perfect for you too. You like creating new things and you get distracted a lot. Even though you like doing smaller things, once you get into game design everything will feel small and it’s so fun you just can’t stop.

+

= A perfect game! (once you actually have someone to make it of course)

Other:
Of course, there are tons of other fun jobs too! I haven’t listed these because they aren’t like, ‘the main four’. But they are still just as important, even if they are overlooked. I’ll just make a list for you because I need to go soon:

  • Music design: You might like it, it’s a type of art.
  • Clothing design: Great for you if your an artist! You could really like it.
  • Voice acting: I guess you might not like this. It might also be hard to find people to hire you.
  • Game tester: Ya, another thing that could be fun but you might not like because it doesn’t require much skill other than looking really close at everything. It’s also one of those long time things.
  • Tutor: I guess you can’t do this yet but I may as well list it. You would need experience in whatever your teaching.

If I missed anything then I’ll add it when someone tells me. I hope you like these suggestions!

This might be a bit daunting of a request, but please, experiment with everything!

For example, though I enjoy creating very customized visual things, programming is one of my favourite aspects of game design. This was unexpected to me previously as I considered something like UI Design and Scripting to be polar opposites, however, they share many similarities.

My recommendation would be to try creating your own game - if you have the time. You can then improve upon it and eventually start a new project. Later on, you could revisit the old project and refine it, or simply admire the work you’ve put in.

If that’s not for you - that’s okay! Really nailing in on one thing can get you just as far (if not further).

What do you mean by, “artist”. I know there’s GUI, GFX, And drawing peoples characters but which one would be best. I really like procreate so maybe drawing characters will. I just don’t know if I’ll ever get hired for it.

Well, I meant any of the above. Try all of them if you want! Kinda funny that you like drawing characters the best though, I’ll hire you when I get the robux to.

I think the one with the most actual pen and paper drawing would be the character artist. A gui artist would just have to do backgrounds and buttons, nothing crazy. Gfx… I’m not actually sure what that means yet but I think that one has tons of special effects, you would be using blender and photoshop for that one.

art and game design maybe, but you should do everything. or try everything. i wanna do scripting, i’m ok at gfx game design and storytelling but wud like to get better at that, i’m alright at math, and i would also like to be a builder.

you could try something like that also

I really found I’m interested in 3d modeling. some of the commissions don’t take long amounts of time, such as builder and the payment is pretty decent.

thats nice. 3d modeling comes alongside texturing too. another thing you’ll have to try is more blender, like gfx. once you’re familiar with blender or your 3d program, its really easy to get started with gfx

I actually have figured out some simple things with blender gfx, and it’s really enjoyable. There only thing I can’t figure out is when I’m adding a google image as background. I can’t find the right one. Is there any certain website that makes it easier?

let's take this into dm's as this is getting off topic.

to be honest i just use google images and edit parts yk? but i guess unsplash maybe or just like stock photo websites that let you have free downloads. or... THE ONE THE ONLY HDRI!!!!

i mean, only if it actually fits the scene, obviously. HDRI are images with lighting you can add to your scene.

Another thing, where do I open a chat box or somethin for dms?
