Hello people, im currently making a Third Person Shooter with my team, i wanted to ask what things you like in games like FPS or TPS? Thanks for any replies!
Guns… and knifes TDM and FFA.
That nothing is really OP.
Infected mode (man hunt) is always lot’s of fun!
That it is not pay to win and everyone gets a fair chance
- Death Effects
- Open Map with many obstacles so that you can hide behind them
That’s all I can think of right now. I will edit this if I get anymore ideas
- Camera Shake on movement (obviously not ridiculous one, though).
- Maps that have detail, obstacles so you can also explore while playing.
- Interactive environment (ex. shootable ropes that activate a trap, etc).
- NO MOTION BLUR. Motion blur on shooter games is terrible.
- Many different weapons, customization.
- Competitive play!
Remember that not everyone will like the same things, though, so you should mostly go with your gut feeling, unless a LOT of people are complaining about a certain decision.
-Weapon customization that affects gameplay in ways such as recoil reduction, zoom strength, weight, and so on.
-A way to team up with friends would be nice.
-Possibly quick chats and the ability to ping locations for communication would be nice as well.
A really good camera system does it for me. Also an interactive crosshair that works with aiming and all of that. Maybe a shoulder change. I have a system like this (without the crosshair thing) if you want to check it out to get some ideas:
More details on the shooter, I think the play style would be dramaticly different based on maps , personally tps are more fun in open maps, I like them better.
I like game that have little grind, which is why games like Phantom Forces and Bad Business aren’t fun for me. Not everyone can play 8 hours a day and I shouldn’t be at a big disadvantage because of it.
Personally, I just like guns and knifes. But, IF for some reason you want, axes and shovels, and a frying pan.
Maybe also a speed-run course, with only knifes. Then it’s like a race - players can kill other players to get to the finish. Competition.
Also! Can’t remember, the obvious, on guns - RECOIL!
maybe vehicles like in Battlefield and open environments
I’m thinking asymmetric designs in maps; Team1 has compact tunnels and Team2 has tall buildings that require you to parkour your way around. Of course, you’d have to balance it, and my ideas may be bad ones, but asymmetric designs are always good in almost any competitive game.
I was thinking of many types of melees like there are in PAYDAY 2.
Vehicles is a good idea, thanks!
Yeah, im currently making and planning opened maps like deserts, hills etc.
-Attachments are of course coming but idea of them to change recoil etc is really cool.
-Team up with friends will of course be in game.
-Pinging is really good idea!
Thanks for suggestions!
I have planned a system which will make game fun to play because you wont need to grind 24/7 to be good!
Thats awesome idea! Your camera system is amazing but im going to make camera system like there’s in a showcase game Lakeside Hill Showcase.
One thing that really lacks in Roblox FPS and TPS games is balancing and general matchmaking. On games like Arsenal and Phantom Forces, you often see a large disparity between the skill of players, and while some games have team balancing and others don’t, the issue still boils down to the players in the match themselves.
I would love to play an FPS/TPS that included something like that, but of course the ability to opt out with a casual mode or something like that, but I do know that a matchmaking feature is a double edged sword as teleporting between places isn’t the best of things for playercount. Best I can think of is either using HTTPService or MessagingService to solve that issue and have 1 player servers that all communicate with eachother, but that’s a really round about and not necessarily a safe way to do things. Maybe Roblox will come up with a better solution for that situation in the future? Universe level scripts were at one point going to be a thing, but that was replaced by MessagingService afaik.
