What Do You Think of My Roblox Trailer?

Hi, there I recently made a Roblox Trailer out of a free model in Roblox Studio so I was wondering if my videos are good enough to start making trailers for people! Let me know what you think!

  • Yes you are definitely ready to start making Roblox Trailers!
  • Yeah you’re good enough to make Roblox Trailers
  • Maybe just a little bit more work but getting there
  • Need to reconsider learning more on how to make trailers

Any thoughts to make it better?

The plane lacks motion, it should be faster and move in all xyz angles instead of just being straight
also, the camera needs to be played around with a little

You should apply lighting to your game, like SunRaysEffect or something like that. It’ll make the trailer look 100x nicer than it already is. Overall, its an okay trailer. Plenty of room for improvement!

Not bad for a first trailer! Here’s my list of critiques for you:
(EDIT #2): I think I have only come to the realization after the fact that this isn’t the trailer for a game, but simply a test project with certain resources. Either way, any information below that may relate specifically to what I originally imagined should still be applicable to the improvement of future trailers, as I took it from the perspective that I may see something such as this right now if I went to the page of the game. Because of this lens I was looking through, it may be useful to simply swap out any specific aspects of a plane game/genre for another one (so the second bullet point under #3 could be swapped out for FPS/Adventure/etc.)

Critiques and Suggestions!

  1. Include title/similar indication at the end of the trailer
  • After watching the trailer, I almost felt lost with where I would need to go in order to find the game. While you did provide identifiable information via your studio name at the beginning of the video, this is not as readily available to many who might be viewing the trailer off of your place’s page, or even just someone who is not familiar with your studio. It would have provided a different effect if the studio name said something such as StyLis Studios because of the credibility they have already built up within the community. By providing the name of the game at the end, you give a sense of direction and a better push towards playing your game, as many people don’t want to search up for a group.

  • As an example, Arsenal’s Trailer, which was the award winner for the “Best Trailer” of the 2020 Bloxy Awards did this at the end of theirs, along with the two other finalists, Adventure Up and Vehicle Simulator.

  1. The music in conjunction with other video elements was offsetting
  • The audio almost sounded like it was coming through laptop speakers when I was listening to it, which took away some of the power within the music for me. In addition to this, due to the speed of the plane during the trailer seeming quite mellow and slow in comparison to the built-in action feel that the music has, it just didn’t click for me. As the music came to an end, I was actually very disappointed since I was expecting something insane/a moment with high intensity, but I ended up getting presented with another slow plane. If this trailer had humorous intent, then that would have been an absolutely perfect way to conclude it, but as it didn’t seem like that for the rest of the trailer, this seemed to further detract from the effect the music has.

  • In addition to these factors, there were some instances where the synchronization of the music didn’t always line up properly with the change of the scenery outside of the plane. While it wasn’t off by that much from 8 seconds to 10 seconds in the video, it was more noticeable at 12 to 14 as well as 16 to 18 seconds, with the change in scenery occurring after the beat. Apologies if this is somewhat nitpicky, but as a video editor, it’s something that’s a pet peeve of mine.

  1. The overall concept was fantastic!
  • Despite some of the potential flaws from my perspective that I have presented above, I am still able to get a grasp at some of the aspects of gameplay that I should be expecting when trying it out. From being able to fly planes in different climates/parts of the world to being able to admire the overall scenery and topography, it provides a pretty decent idea of the game. However, I do not believe it provided enough information/left me on enough of a cliff hanger to find out more to warrant immediate action of either joining the game/noting it down for later.

  • As there are other games that involve planes, such as Plane Crazy and Ro-Planes, which already have decent popularity with dedicated communities, if someone who mainly plays these games sees your trailer, you have to consider certain questions/factors:

    • What does this game offer that the others don’t?

    • If someone sees this trailer, will their expectations be met when they play the game, or is it too unnatural in comparison to how it actually goes? (Imagine triple a titles with fancy trailers that don’t have gameplay like what was presented at all)

    • Does this trailer demonstrate the core gameplay that players will focus on? (Make sure it isn’t too heavily focused on side quests/etc., even if it’s to provide a sense of variety and demonstrate that there are a lot of different options/paths that one can follow while playing)

    • Finally, is this a trailer that will catch someone’s eye? (As the name of your studio occupies the first two seconds, that’s enough time for someone to pause the auto-play on a game page where they won’t see any of the trailer. If you stick a very good hook for the first 3 seconds of the trailer at least, this could tremendously increase the chances of someone watching the whole thing just because of availability bias [I believe this term is applicable?] and how it’s already playing for them)

    • Edit (EXTRA TIP): If it helps, imagine your trailer as a commercial or advertisement. Is it something that people will enjoy to watch even though they know it’s intended to persuade you to do or play something? Think about how Super Bowl (for American Football) commercials captivate so many people and try and utilize that knowledge as a way to understand what can garner the attention of someone. You can also take inspiration from the qualities within other top ROBLOX Trailers that other players have shown interest in.

Hope that these are able to help you out! I would like to give your game a shot to hopefully provide some more feedback on it along with how it may be able to be portrayed better within the trailer from a viewer’s perspective.

wow cool, who you make that? I like it.

In my opinion, every frame shouldn’t include the plane in it - I do think that when you create enough scenery and buildings that you should focus on them too.

It’s good nonetheless.

This is amazing! I personally think this is very good for a first trailer, may I know what software you used to make this?

The Cuts between the Different Maps kind of felt weird, it’s needed to express at least a few of the different things you might want to learn about before playing the game.

The Cuts
I think the Cuts between the Different Maps could have a little more reworking than just going from one to another in my opinion, For Example: (A transition, Different Views and Angles, etc)

Otherwise, Pretty Nice trailer for starting out!

Wow @StrongBigeMan9 thank you so much for the critiques and feedback as this helped me a lot! I created a trailer for my actual game and made sure the audio was good quality, the transitions were on the beat and added more context to what the game is about. Thanks a lot, I really appreciated your feedback

Here is the new trailer I made:

Was this trailer better than the other trailer I made?

My only bad view about the trailer is the part when the camera is spinning around from the front view of that green plane.

Need to fix that though, anyways, good trailers for a starter👍
